overall jay was an okay president he made good and bad moves but what always annoyed me was how people gave jay all the props for the successful artists but when you mention the flops, his 'stans' say 'well you cant blame jay for ______ flopping because ______'

?????????

When he was their they signed Ne-Yo, Rick Ross, Nas, Fabolous. Jeezy, The Roots, Jadakiss

Since then what stars have they created?

What big signings have they had?

Shyne?

Looking back at what they have done recently i think a lot of people need to look back at his term there because he had a lot of critics.

He aint get dropped / he dropped the label

I dont keep up with numbers like that but it seems like Ross did more numbers than Jeezy. if anything he has a bigger fanbase as of now.
Ross has a following, Jeezy has a following, Ne-Yo made noise wit the ghetto bitches and The Roots will always have a cult following and will sale nearly the same amount all the time so they're consistent.

Fab? Meh....

And lets not forget Rihanna.

lol Jeezy was signed to Def Jam before Jay became president there. I think Ross was as well, R&B don't count because LA Reid was handling all of that.

Jay was busy with his Flop-A-Fella artists flopping all over the place when he became Def Jam president.

You should have seen the threads about that Tiarra Marie chick or whatever her name is that Jay signed.

Ross on White House the song "I dont fuck with pussy niggas took my shit to Jigga Man"

And yes r&b counts because he was the pres of the label not just the rap division.

And yes he was responsible for the signings of Ne-Yo & Rihanna and orchestrated the trade for Musiq Soulchild for Fab.

"I brought Nas to Def Jam i put Fab back on the charts"

This thread flopped haters have no fuel lol.

i'm talking about the fans. when jeezy, kanye, rihanna, ross, fab, nas etc do good jay gets the credit, but when ghost, redman, meth, roots, bleek etc flop then they say you cant blame jay because (whatever excues they come up with)

I think when you look at Jay-z legacy, you have to look at it relative to other labels (Columbia, Warner Bros, Interscope, Atlantic, etc) at the time and see what they were doing. Just like any other label he had success and failures, not every artist is gonna go platinum or gold (Lady Sovereign, Roots, Ghostface,Young Gunz, etc) but he balanced that out with (Jeezy,Ross, Rihana, etc). Who beside TI did Atlantic put out during that time, who did Warner Bros put out, and so on.

Jigger brought some supreme talent to that label, all those artists have sold Gold or better on their projects.

....since then I can't think of anybody they signed that's worth mention....they should have signed yellowdog or whatever his name is and those Travis kids.

lol..............

lol..............

But seriously JayZ didnt sign Rick Ross or Young Jeeezy, Shakir Stewart used his southern connections to sign those artists.(Shakir Stewart signed Beyonce too by the way).

JayZ signed Nas, The Roots, Jadakiss and Fabolous...

But lets take a deeper look:

He split with Dame & Biggs to become president

He crushed DMX spirit
He broke Beanie Sigels heart
He forced LL Cool J into retirement

Method Man, Beanie Sigel, & Freeway didnt get the proper promotion for their projects and the Roc-A-Fella roster artists were pretty much forgotten.

Jigger's legacy at Def Jam will be known more for the R&B with Rihanna and Neo than for the HipHop contributions.

DMX is a crackhead, Beanie is salty and Cool J is an actor....Why does Ross give props to Jay for signing with Def Jam, i doubt Jay had NOTHING to do with the signings
