What Are Your Thoughts On Motivational Speakers? (Do You Take Them Seriously?)

They aren't much different from cult/religious leaders to be honest. Some are decent and just trying to help but a lot of them are vultures preying on people with low self-esteem.

I think they have a formula on how they present. Draw some emotional appeal, saying everything is for more time at home with your kids, get you to chanting, and you visualizing life with no worries. I wish I knew how to tailor all my conversations like that. Have cats eating out the palm of my hand. With that being said, I've got DREAMS FOR SALE! Limited time offer! I'll sell you a dream and throw in harsh reality for free

Motivational speakers feed off of low self esteem having, can't get up and get it themselves type of people. I had great parents and supportive brothers to motivate me towards achieving my goals, and I didn't have to pay a dime for the motivation

Man they are great at high schools/colleges and make great money.

They're opportunists.

It's easy to speak to these ppl..

Are you depressed?

Do you want more out of life?

Want to know the key to success?

etc

Everyone goes through or wants help, they just capitalize on it by talking... It's easy to talk... Master Splinter can be a great motivational speaker..

Their words are 'uplifting', yes, but they're looking to really jump on ppl w that buy my book, DVD, meal plan recipe book and cd shit.. $$$$$$ is all that matters... Joel Osteen isn't even a pastor, he's a religious-motivational speaker, using 'god' to get rich..

I like the ones in my sig.. dudes been getting paid off well just to tell you, you're mentally weak and that's all that separates you from them. Not necessarily true, because there are all sort if factors beyond our control, but yes..word to Tony Robbin dvds n cds..

I never even believed Osteen was a legit pastor. Plus a lot of them use God to get rich. Just like the dude in my sig.

I keep it at an arms length.

I'm not donating to their cause or showing up at their functions but if I have a free moment I'll most definitely turn up a motivational free YouTube video and listen to a positive message to counterbalance the large share of negativity that gets fed into my brain on the daily in written and spoken form.

May as well feed my mind a happy pill every now and again to keep me from turning into a full time negative cynic like many have become.

ET the Hip Hop Preacher. You're welcome.

I heard of him years ago. He dropped out of school and got in trouble. Last I heard he went back to school for his PHD.
