400 posts seems a bit excessive I would think 100 or at most 200 personally but even that has a easy skate around. they can make a bunch of meaningless posts in a random thread ina obscure portion of the site and get back to business if we have a vetting process and make people actually say why they arehere and discuss themselves abit to get a active account we can catch the spammers before they can even make spam posts/threads. Still something more needs to be done...

lol at an approval system. Shit aint that serious bruh. We'd lose traffic with the quickness.

Been game with a certain post count before starting a thread for a min

I will let everyone know we need more security at the sign up form, that's basically what it's coming down to.

how would we lose traffic? Most viewers/traffic are guests that never signed up to post I was simply talking about those that want to actually be a part of the community getting approved that would not stem traffic just spammers and aliases from getting through. Actual real new community members should have no problem posting to admin/moderators an initial 1st post that needs approval if they are indeed wanting to continue being able to post in the community and participate...

nah kid

that shit would be deterrent city. imagine if you were trying to spam and everytime you made an account you had to also make that account post 400 times with out being noticed before you could even make a thread

plus that would make ppl value their accounts more. if you get banned and come back minutes later making a "fuck the mod that banned me" thread then you dont really value your posting ability. before you were here when i first joined you needed 300 posts to make a thread and 500 posts to see certain rooms of the board. posters felt like they earned their abilities to an extent and valued those ablities. say you got to 400 posts after 2 or 3 weeks of posting, then you said fuck it im gonna get on some donkey troll shit around the whole board. then when you go too far, a mod bans you and deletes all your posts LOL you'd be back to square one trying to work your way back every month. eventually even the most hardcore troll would quit this board after such a brutal ethering. not to mention the fact that our established posters have way more than 400 posts anyway. imagine deleting all of shadyteams content so she cant make threads?? you wouldnt even have to ban. if some one is abusing their thread making privledges just take it from them lol

and as far as bots making posts in threads, as we all know thats how it all started, once they found they could make threads they left that shit so far behind that we forget thats how they started. so its obvious that they get much more attention thru thread titles and opening posts

all that tightening up the sign up process will do is stop real ppl from signing up period. the fact is you cant just let someone walk onto the board on their first day and have the same ablities as someone with 10,000 posts ... that ridiculous

A 300 post limit before bein able to make threads would smoothen things out some internally as well..

ON that note though why is it IP that are already banned allowed to make new accounts? would it not be easier to lock out those IP's from even making accounts instead of illbot clapping them one they start posting???

when i first got on the IC in 03 there was a post count limit before you could make threads...spam wasn't a problem then...the shit is a good idea..think it was 150 posts or something
