You can't pick and choose a savior. It just happens and it's rare. You usually don't know it's happened because you were too busy enjoying the music, taking it for granted until it's gone. But yeah, I concur, this generation of rappers are not quite up to par with the last. Too many old niggas around too. Like Jayz and Nas. No disrespect to them, but they are like Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr.
Look at the mainstream right now. Lil wayne, calls a man daddy that didn't father him. Drake is soft. Eminem with his corny raps and yelling. Young money with their skinny jeans and making music for 16 year old girls. Nicki Minaj is sexy but...Rick Ross has good beats, but lyrics and flow leave something to be desired.
The game is ok for what it is, but needs a little more balance and diversity.

Look, y'all know DMX one of my favs but the truth is if someone like a DMX would come along he would have to appeal to the ladies in some type of way. I've been telling ppl for years that it's really the females that control the hip-hop market. Like 2pac said, niggas follow what the bitches like. DMX had the "it" factor to go along with his hardcore style and rhymes, which benefited him.
Today in this super club driven music culture we live in it would be almost impossible for someone like him to come out and blow up like that with that style. He would have to have club beats or act like these cornball niggas now. That's the problem right there. Niggas can't just be themselves and like what they like musically. Niggas gotta impress females at all times to where they can't even pick their own music to bump.

Now that he is signed with Dr. Dre though, I think we are going to see that creative edge "dumbed down" for commercial success or his stuff with Dre will never see the light of day (like Rakim, etc.)
