Like others have said dmx isnt dead the only problem the same ones clamoring for a "dmx" to return to the game are the same ones who would call him just a crackhead and devalue his good music even just because times have changed n no one wants a rapper that is "too grimey" anymore... Word though...X has been trash for a while now. It's Dark is classic. Flesh of My Flesh was near classic - shit is as about as close as u can get w/o actually being classic. And Then There Was X was where he began to fall off IMO. I give it a 3.5 at most & the rest if them shots was meh. IDK if it's a direct result of the crack or what.

I think 50 was more a by-product of that whole "rappers in love" era when Ja Rule, Nelly, Jay-Z, Fabolous, LL and Diddy were making those sappy ass chick songs like Excuse Me Miss, I'm So Into You, Dilemma, I Need A Girl, Love You Better, What Would I Be Without You, etc....he came in and crushed that shit like X crushed the Shiny Suit Era
I agree with your last point though....if there is a DMX of this generation, he'd have to be associated with one of the big name camps (YMCMB, MMG, or GOOD Music)
I think the closest we have right now is Meek Mill, but he doesn't have the "edge" that X and 50 had.
Basically, what we need is an artist who's a perfect mixture of Chief Keef and Kendrick Lamar....and that's probably not going to happen LOL
