Wrong. X started doin crack in 1984, when he was 14 cuz his mans laced his blunt wit crack smoke. Watch his behind the music, he talks about it.

Nobody sayin we don't need one either.

DMX was overrated! Like somebody already mentioned, there were rappers with that same style before Earl became X. He didn't invent shit.

Like others have said dmx isnt dead the only problem the same ones clamoring for a "dmx" to return to the game are the same ones who would call him just a crackhead and devalue his good music even just because times have changed n no one wants a rapper that is "too grimey" anymore... Basically there isnt one because we wont accept one.. People are too image conscience & white-washed nowadays n dont even realize that THEY are... Thee end.

Word though...X has been trash for a while now. It's Dark is classic. Flesh of My Flesh was near classic - shit is as about as close as u can get w/o actually being classic. And Then There Was X was where he began to fall off IMO. I give it a 3.5 at most & the rest if them shots was meh. IDK if it's a direct result of the crack or what.

50 Cent was the last rapper to do it big on that level and popularity wise, he surpassed X. Like X with the shiny suit era, 50 Cent was a by-product of Shady/Aftermath.The difference is that 50 was signed to Shady/Aftermath and DMX wasn't a Bad Boy artist.

The "DMX" of this generation will likely be a rapper that is endorsed and co-signed by Wayne and YMCMB. Why? Because it's a major entity within the game right now just like Bad Boy was in the 90's and Shady/Aftermath in the 00's. YMCMB would give that artist exposure and they really don't have an artist like that on their squad right now.

I think 50 was more a by-product of that whole "rappers in love" era when Ja Rule, Nelly, Jay-Z, Fabolous, LL and Diddy were making those sappy ass chick songs like Excuse Me Miss, I'm So Into You, Dilemma, I Need A Girl, Love You Better, What Would I Be Without You, etc....he came in and crushed that shit like X crushed the Shiny Suit Era

I agree with your last point though....if there is a DMX of this generation, he'd have to be associated with one of the big name camps (YMCMB, MMG, or GOOD Music)

I think the closest we have right now is Meek Mill, but he doesn't have the "edge" that X and 50 had.

Basically, what we need is an artist who's a perfect mixture of Chief Keef and Kendrick Lamar....and that's probably not going to happen LOL
