I agree.

People complain about HipHops direction but I don't see today as being as bad as it was when snap-music was at it's height and LiL Jon was at his peek.

J.Cole just dropped the album of the year, one that he produced almost in it's entirety with lyrics and beats and moved 200K so I think the game is going in the right direction to a degree.

I can c/s some of this. a lot of good lyricist coming up. I just can't c/s a bunch of classic albums. Maybe 1 or 2. But time will tell. One of these dudes could be working on a gem right now. And don't forget Nas Krit ans Scarface who all have some new shit coming as well

Royce said it on 106 the other night. For a moment in hip hop it wasn't "cool" to be lyrical. Now it's good to be lyrical again. Just how it works. It's good to hear good hip hop again though man I will say that tho

I dont know about golden era but it does seem lyricism and real rap is making it's way back to the forefront. Hopefully we got some classics on the way. There are some promising new rappers (you forgot Big Krit), and some of the GOATs are in fine form in 2011. Nas, Common, Jay Z, Kanye are all in the zone right now.

My bad, i overlooked him. Dudes like Krit, XV,etc and even a mf like Mac Miller.

you will get clowned for this. but i agree with the sentiment but i think it will happen on a micro level, as far as the fans. lyricism is still not what mainstream hip hop fans are looking for. I think true fans will agree, but passive fans are going to continue to gravitate towards bullshit.

How can anyone say Mac Miller is wack, i'm listening to Kids right now and that shit is a straight boom bap sounding album. It's hiphop in it's essence and he is flowing too, if Nas was rhyming on these beats people would be going crazy.

I do agree it will happen slowly on a smaller level, it's gonna take a while because the Clear Channel, Viacoms, etc have their templates (catchy beats, basic lyrics, and catchy hooks). The beauty of hiphop is as much as the industry tries to control it's the youth who dictate what's hot and the music itself is counter culture music. A ground swell will occur sooner or later

Good Music- Ye, Common,Pusha, Cyhi

Shady - Em, Slaughterhouse

Roc Nation - Jay, Cole, and Jay E

MMG - Ross, Wale, and Meek

PS Kendrick Lamar too

It's pretty fucking obvious that lyricism is coming back to the game and i truly believe within the next 2-3 we will have a bunch of classic albums since the the late 90s. I know it's a lot of pop r and b sounding rappers at the forefront right now, but it's clearly some real rap bubbling beneath the surface right now. The game is ready to be DMXed!

every rapper listed besides Eminem (who i dont even like really) is trash.
