Video:Drake To Nicki Minaj "I Love You But We Dont Really Talk Anymore"...

On the real, even though the dude is corny, his vulnerability is what the fanbase loves about him. The dude practically GIVES y'all the ammo, I remember being a little suprrised when I first heard "The Resistance" and "Fireworks" because of how much of himself he is willing to give to his audience. On one hand you have the ultra-private rappers like Jay-Z who are loved because of their status/success (in addition to rhymes). Drake is on the opposite of the spectrum, his die-hard fans like him because they think they know him. Think about it, if rappers like Jay-Z or Ross ever went broke, what would they rap about? I guarantee you Drake could go platinum off an album just talking about how broke he is and how its affecting his bitches

Question is, when Drakes 14 year old fanbase grows up will they grow with him. Volnerability is one part of it, but if your style becomes predictable and repetitious then peopl will dip. The thing with a Jay-z too, he slowly opened up over his career and that kept people interested in him. What is Drake gonna rap about 5 albums from now, if he even makes it?

People aren't interested in Jay himself, people are interested in the aura of Jay: The ex-drug dealer who became a business mogul and is married to the biggest R&B singer in the world. In interviews you can tell dude is a little shy and not as charismatic as he is while in the booth. No one listens to Jay's albums to hear aout his personal life, they listen to hear about his accomplishments/status etc. Jay is not a great artist, he might be a great rapper, but Kanye has long eclipsed him as an artist and that is why Jay needs "Watch The Throne" more than Ye does.

Drake is very emo-ish but unlike what seems to be the poison of black youth, in the "real world" you don't have to act hard and tough all the time. Some people ACTUALLY are honest 100% of the time in the real world. Needless to say, rappers up and down have for years tried to put up a facade of them being hard, and now we've got a dude that is dead honest to 100% and ya'll are looking at him sideways and calling him soft.

"Soft" only applies in the mind of the insecure who feels that he needs to act hard in order to be accepted. "Soft" doesn't exist in the mind of a man that is comfortable and secure enough to give his fans exactly what he feels at all times.. And he's winning because people love him EXACTLY for that reason. Coincidently, that's also exactly why I don't like "Headlines" - he touches on topics that clearly are foreign to him like "catching bodies". Drake is best when he does him. He gives fans something very few other rappers do - pure honesty without having to put up an illusion of toughness 2 bars later.

Jay hasn't been a drug delear rapper since Roc-la-familia, that's where he made the transition of slowly talking abot his personal life. That ex drug dealer aura wore off years ago imo! I don't know him personally to speak on being shy and charisma, people who have said they have met him say he is opposite of what you're saying (Oprah, Piers Morgan, Jimmy Fallon, etc) but that's not the point. The point is, Jay-z mysteriousness is what has kept his fanbase around imo, he doesn't speak too much about himself or his relationhip, and when he does it's through lil bits of his music. He kept the intrique throughout his whole career. How the fuck is Jay-z not a great artist, stop talking out your ass nigga. The only thing Kanye does that Jay can't do is produce records. You think because a nigga doesn't cry on records like a little hoe that doesn't make them a artist.

A great artist puts of great shows, looks at life put out their own interpretation of it through art, great songwriter (hooks, choruses, etc), evoke some type of thought or feeling. What makes you think Jay doesn't do that, his approach is just different and way more SUBTLE, CREATIVE, and WITTY than a Kanye. Kanye is much more straight ahead with his shit!

drake's "style" apeals to girls and young women who still fantasize about that sensitive man that they hope to fall in love with some day. in 4-5 years when those females are no longer stuck on "puppy love" they will loose interest in some grown ass man still trying convince them that he only speaks from his feminine side. and by then drake will be told old to appeal to the next generation of love sick females, and/or the next sensitive rapper would have come along to take his place. i don't see how he can have a long career depending on young females as his core fanbase. outside of LL, i can't think of one "ladies man" rapper that was able to extend his career beyond 4-5 years. he better either really learn to how to sing for real so he can attract older females or he going have a hard time trying to switch up his style where people will believe him.

I have always noticed the insecurity behind thinking you have to be tough. However he is soft in the sense he is a fabricated studio rapper. His lack of being able to sing naturally turns into this guy who uses effects and pitch corrected tools to make him try to sound smooth. Not for hooks not for chorses but now for ENTIRE songs. That is soft. Drake is a fraud when it comes to the "R&B" part of him. But the hip hop comeback season even so far gone part of him rapping was authentic because he could be him speak loudly and not be insecure. But when he sings live (ive been to a concert) is quieter an more awkward then his full fleged hip hop rapping.

Yep, that's why boy bands and artist like them who cater to the 14 year old girl never last long. The fanbase outgrows them, see Ja Rule, Nelly, and 50, those catchy pop ditties only last so long.

And yet here is Wayne still on top 8 years later.

And Drake in his footsteps still buzzing 3 years after the inital boom.

Still hanging on to your crystal ball bullshit I see Usmarine.

Drake could have 10 successful years and you'll still be tromping around these boards talmbout "THESE 14 year old popfanbase girls are gonna abandon him any second now. ANNNNNY SECOND NOW"

Honestly on the cool exposing everything about yourself to your fans kinda hurts you even Kanye who pretty much tells all his feelings and opinions still has a mystique towards him.Drake doesnt really have that because he always tells you exactly what you want to hear and he has made the exact songs u expect him to make.Kanye can go from black actvist type ish to on some super pop stuff and back because he has a mystique towards him.I know we are asked to open up and express our feelings nowadays but thing is thats some feminine shit.Women cry at movies,tv shows get jealous over little ass things.Men we are taught not to do that solely because we are supposed take our feelings and use them to power ourselves (internalize) not let them be available to be controlled like women do.Im not saying bottle your shit up til you pop but find ways to express yourself without sacrificing your control

About that kanye sentence I will say this Kanye keeps his shit pretty private off of the wax we only know what he lets us know.
