Vanilla Ice said ppl (black ppl) were hating on him because he was doing better than blacks at their own music. Nice

thats how white rappers feell when white america gets behind them & make them #1 word 2 the klansmen feminem

Em has always been respectful to his influences and peers

And Em doesn't get the backlash Vanilla Ice got for being wack because he's dope

Ice wasn't even good.He was just trippin

Even Em didn't like Vanilla Ice

Looking at this thus far not much different from this that Vh1 also did..

It's similar, but the difference is that this isn't just about hip hop it's about black culture as a whole going mainstream because of hip hop

They talk about sitcoms,TV shows, movies etc

That other one didn't, but yes it's kind of like that

I could watch this over reality shows anyday

I saw the first two episodes. It was real great. That yusef hawkins story had me feelin some type of way. Im curious to see how they're gonna talk about the current era of hip hop.

The irony of ‪The Tanning Of America‬ is that Vh1 used to not play any type of rap/hiphop and promoted itself as a video channel w/ no rap. They used to play music for 47 yr old white dudes

Okay pt 3 is on

Dr. Dre talking about how nobody wanted to sign him because his sound didn't sound like hip hop at the time w/ the live instruments.

The Golden age.i dare a nigga compare

We can officially kill that urban legend about Tommy Hilfiger being racist. he made clothes w/ hip hop sagging in mind

Snoop made Hilfiger's sales go sky high just by wearing it

The shiny suit era ughhhh

The Hype Williams period

Cool but not as good as pt 2

hip hop be selling hella shit
