If you lose 97 Keys that's a King Pin. Your Weight is over.

Show me one quote where he said he was a kingpin!

Your weight is over if you don't have consignment and good connections, and we are talking about at the height of the crack epidemic.

I think these niggas be gettin mad at me for going in on Jay.......thats they Demi-God......

But all im doing is speaking truth.......i mean Jay-Z has no background before RD......

As i know just like several others know......Jay-Z style flipped over night like they say Wayne style did....

How u go from rapping like Bone Thugs to sounding like Biggie and Nas......

How u go from rhyming words to make them rhyme....to Kingpin status.....

Check out Jay-Z old shit......im talking about before RD......he never rapped about hustling......

He never rapped about fucking girls......he never rapped about gettin money......i had this arguement before

and i guess the dude i was debating with, he won because he said Jay-Z was battle rapper and battle rappers dont rap about those things....

I was like well u have a point.....but even when he was freestyling and not battling in those days.....his subject matter was never about street shit

it was always about how nice he is on the mic........im nice like this....im flow like that......riggity-rap-rip-ripping-and-rolling-rugged...that was Jay-Z style

Wrong, you clearly don't follow Jay-Z "I be thourough in every borough/my name be ringing for DRUG SLINGING doing my thing and, but fuck that.."-from the song Greatest MC 1994. Learn your history before you speak !!!

All of Jay-Z's affiliates were drug dealers and drug lords, Danny Dan,Dehaven,Calvin Klein, even Memphis Bleek said in Jay-Z's Driven episode that Jay always had the nicest shit big screen TV's and new whips...

Who's blaming whom? I am certainly not blaming anyone. Both Dame and Jayz have more Money then you or I will ever see. And Dame didn't Just play his part. He made his ARTIST what they are today!!! Stop diminishing Dame's role, only prop up Jayz.

Basically because Jay was the one that was heard on records constantly !! It would easy to ignore P. Diddy if he wasn't on records rapping - right ? The fact that you saw P. Diddy on remixes, seen in videos as well as making his own, he couldn't be ignored and props couldn't just be given to the Franchise Player. Suge Knight anyone ?

Well the question was "Is wayne a real Blood?" And I know he isnt, the brotha is a multimillionare so it doesnt make sense for him to start bangin, if he was a true blood then how come he didnt run up on 40glocc for checking his homies in L.A.? He's a industry blood. Tell me what set he's from ..

Just to clarify.....If the nigga Wayne just recently recorded a verse from jail......claiming the blood gang.....i wonder myself if he a real blood.....

U asking me is Wayne is a real blood is like asking me if Wayne is a real rapper?.......

Thats common knowledge that nigga bangin blood.....u stated yourself how he wait to be a millionaire to start banging......and i showed why....i showed u where it changed, he had a choice he couldve banged Crip......and so be it if he a industry blood.....thats cool....but its common knowledge to the WORLD.... that he wants to known and affiliated with the Blood gang.....

As far as 40 Gloc...... nigga say Wayne wasnt in the car........and again for 40 Gloc....if he a real Crip.....how come a blood nigga step on turf....and u dont empty on-site......u dont kick the car....break a window....bust a shot.....spit a luggie....flat a tire......break a mirror......break a head light......write Crip on the side of the truck.

i mean i can go on and on.....about the things 40 Gloc couldve done....but all he did was say......."Are we recording"

What does have to do with getting a deal, what do you expect to buy a deal or something?

Plus, what would he have said to the IRS & the feds behind them if he independently financed the record? I am a 1st class JiggaWarrior, but none the less, still a valid point.

97 keys? What's that from? I've heard about that story where Danny Dan crashed his car, knew he wasn't gonna make it & told Jay, his passenger, to take the money outta the car & bounce. That was suppossed to be 997 thou... I don't know how true it is, I don't know any street cats from NY, & definietly not from the 80's.

There's a lot of people in this thread that have no clue what they're talking about. I'm in the industry and can tell you first hand that the music industry is as cut throat as it gets. Its not for the weak or timid. You almost have to have some amount of asshole in you to survive or you'll get eaten up quick. For every "nice guy" in the industry there are a thousands staunch assholes that you never heard of and most of em are white! Not to make this a race thing but some of you just have no clue. If you think rap music is or has ever been run by black people you're sadly mistaken.

Most artist are NOT responsible for their success. There's so many people working behind the scenes making things happen you wouldn't believe it. I learned this first hand working at Warner bros. I mean think about it you literally have all phases of the label working for each artist. That's literally hundreds of people (well it was hundreds before the recession hit). Another thing you need to know is that most artist are DUMB and have absolutely no business savvy or know how when it comes to running a business and creating a brand. They can write a song, rap, sing and perform but when it comes to everything else they need to their hands held. Don't get me wrong they can develop the business savvy over time but 99% of artist would've never made it to where they're at without the label or their team. Case and point Jay z and Dame/Rocafella. If you think for one second that Jay z would be where he is right now without Dame and the rest of their team you're sadly mistaken...and vice versa. Just look at how long it took him to break. Obviously over time Jay developed that business savvy and was able to branch off on his own thus where he is now. But to think he woulda made it without him is ridiculous. If Jay was such a great business from the beginning then why was dame always the one at those meetings fighting and being an asshole for the good of the roc? I've seen countless videos of dame at meetings but not one wit jay at any. Why? Its because Dame was the brains and the brawn of the label.

The fact of the matter is that everyone plays a role in the success of an artist/ladel. Everyone has their own lane and they're all equally important.

I definitely talent will always find a way to make it or i should say special talent (Nas,Jay,Big,Snoop), Dame wasn't the one making those hit records. i think Jay and Dame went as far as they could go. It's kind of like the movie Casino with Deniro and Pesci, Pesci was the muscle and useful on the street shit but once Deniro was tryna do bigger things he knew he couldn't take him with him.

Very poor analogy. Are you trying to say that when dame and jay was together that they was on some street level shit? lol Rocafella was more successful then it has ever been when they where together and so was Jay z in terms of his artistry. Rocafella was the biggest and most successful indy in the game at that time and don't even mention the tours, shoe deals, vodka deal, rocawear, movies and everything else that was started when they were together. In my Roy Jones voice "yall musta forgot." I don't know how old u are but if you where aware back then you would know that as a label and company rocafella was the shit and waaaaay bigger than it is now. The only thing that has gotten bigger is jay z as a business man. His career as an artist was way more successful back then.
