the second time was just last year. jurgen klinsmann was bayerns coach and cause he had been living in usa for years he became a big fan of donovan and signed him but he disappointed.

Last year/this year he was with Everton. He broke Ashley Cole's ankle in their game with Chelsea.

josh si that really you ?

donovan world class ?

your lucky you didnt make this post in the regular prem/worldcup thread...smh just smh.

C'mon man. Did you watch any of his games with Everton? He was the best player on the pitch. This might be Everton we're talking about, but this is still a top half team in the EPL. The guy found his right position and delivered. If you know me you know I don't have nothing good to say about Donavan, but he did impress me and had me "eating crow" after his stay with Everton.

I'm not torn up over the loss. You just dunno what you're talking about. Donovan being there to score the goal wasn't luck...it's called sticking with the play. Just like a player in the NBA getting a rebound, or tipping the ball in off a missed shot. It's not luck, it's practiced and happens a lot. In soccer people stay scoring off rebound plays like that...it's not some miracle that just happened in the U.S. game. And, the U.S. team actually has more than 2 good players on the roster.

im sorry that 1 goal in the 93rd minute was more luck than it was skill, you cant really compare it to a nba rebound because rebounding in the nba is a skill, you win with guys on your team that are great rebounders and can out rebound the other team, its probably the biggest reason why the celtics lost, in the usa game they couldnt make shit happen on offense the whole game, in the 93rd minute the ball happened to bounce right to him and he kicked it in, you cant anticapate shit like that happening every game and thats why i say that team was trash, they really should of lost to england to

first of all I am not shocked that Ghana won. I don't know why everyone was expecting the US to just cruise to a semi finals like it was easy. This is the World Cup every team you face here can beat you. The US is not a super power like they were making them out to be. They were talking about how favorable the draw was to them and didn't realize that the draw was also favorable because they were in it. Ghana beat the US the last time. They just won the under 23 or 21 world cup. I don't know why everyone is shocked. This wasn't an upset.

they are good players but they are not world class players. There is a definite skill level between the US and the rest of the world still. This skill gap is narrowing but it is still there. The good news is that they have some young players who are good and could possibly be very good later on. Josie Altidor needs to learn to control the ball better so he can finish more often. On some of those balls he got a more skilled striker, like the guy from Ghana, would have scored or at the very least put much better shots on goal He is only what 20 though. By next World Cup he should step up as the teams best player cause Landon Donovan won't be there or if he is he would be past his prime.

Anybody can condition themselves to run 10 miles thats y 14 year olds can play pro soccer and when ppl score its often luck and being at the right place at the right time .... The Sport doesnt depend on much strategy like football.... The sport doesnt take much to learn and any idiot can understand it....

lol you have no idea what your talking about if its so easy why are they only scoring 1 or 2 goals a game if it was so easy they would be scoring more. U have to learn how to dribble with your feet and make perfect passes with your feet its much easier to play basketball or football and baseball than soccer i played all of them maybe not baseball it might be even but it depends all on strategy if you keep attacking the goal and dont know what your doing your gonna get caught in a counter strike

If it was luck then you wouldn't constantly see the same teams being powerhouses, and going deep into the tournament. Every game would be a toss-up.

What r u talking about? Im saying its easy to play as in Ur just running after the ball while staying in ur formations... There's not alot of strategy in Soccer After u learn to pass Theres nothing mentally demanding... Plus the US cant dribble and Ronaldo never passes and he never tries to attempt to steal the ball.... I played Soccer Football and Basketball and ur lying when U act like their are a multitude of plays in Soccer.... Most of it is luck and your God given abilities hell I think Goalie is one of the most difficult positions to play in all sports yet there isnt much strategy to the position .... Soccer is a sport that if u are physically fit and can run U can play....

I like soccer and ur talkin out ur ass if u believe it's more difficult to play than any other sport there is a reason there's a world cup for soccer and not for basketball and football.... It's bc only one country would dominate.... Even if the us had it's best athletes playing soccer we may not dominate soccer bc it's far more competitive and everyone can play and adapt to the sport there's a reason y women don't ask questions about soccer and how its played and say y did he do this... Bc everbody understands soccer..

you continue to sound like an idiot. No one else plays football and there is a world championhip for basketball. Soccer takes more skill than basketball and football. Hitting is hard in baseball so it pitching everything else isn't. If you can't tell the skill difference between a team like the US and even a team like Ghana you need to get your eyes checked. Look at how Josie Altidore was unable to control any of the long balls that were given to him then look at how the Ghanaian player got his long ball and within two touches was able to get off a powerful accurate shot. That takes skill. That takes talent. That takes years of development to be able to do. If all you needed to be good in soccer was to run then they US would be a world power by now. You really have no idea what you are talking about so just stop. You are sounding real stupid right now.

y r u only talking about offense altidore couldn't tap the ball in the goal when he wasn't patient and didn't think and he couldve tapped in a couple of goals. Ppl in soccer don't think US couldve scored alot more goals if they wouldve paid more attention and wouldve been patient and actually thought
