Way I learned is similar to your definition. Its basically a black guy who views himself above black society and attempts to verify this and "prove" it by association with white people as if they are the ultimate authority. But it's white who came up with the term because this so-called "elevated" black guy was basically making a fool of himself because he was just a black guy who "didn't know his place"

The word Coon comes from the minstrel shows and post slavery reconstruction.

You had different "character types" that were supposed to represent Black people.

Sambo
Coon
Zip Coon
Mammy
Pick-a-ninies

I strongly encourage yall to do some reading instead of fostering the use of this word.

The coon caricature is one of the most insulting of all anti-Black caricatures. The name itself, an abbreviation of raccoon, is dehumanizing. As with Sambo, the coon was portrayed as a lazy, easily frightened, chronically idle, inarticulate, buffoon.

-The coon differed from the Sambo in subtle but important ways. Sambo was depicted as a perpetual child, not capable of living as an independent adult. The coon acted childish, but he was an adult; albeit a good-for-little adult. Sambo was portrayed as a loyal and contented servant. Indeed, Sambo was offered as a defense for slavery and segregation. How bad could these institutions have been, asked the racialists, if Blacks were contented, even happy, being servants? The coon, although he often worked as a servant, was not happy with his status. He was, simply, too lazy or too cynical to attempt to change his lowly position. Also, by the 1900s, Sambo was identified with older, docile Blacks who accepted Jim Crow laws and etiquette; whereas coons were increasingly identified with young, urban Blacks who disrespected Whites. Stated differently, the coon was a Sambo gone bad.

I'm not even tryna be a Tupac Stan but niggas was in here (and I hope they not actually black, if so shame on you) acting real Rush Limbaughish when it came to Pac. He don't have to be your favorite rapper but the nigga was far from a sellout. Niggas was just mad he was going to war with rap cats they worshiped and stanned for and what kill me is they act like he didn't have a reason to be pissses and poppin off.Honestly I'm thinking when did Tupac become a coon? I thought about cats like Bryant Humble or Byron Allen before him, not a nigga that's just bitter cuz another nigga, his homey(a black man for all you militant all of a sudden guys) tried to get his head blown off in 95 in New York
