As long as u invented something, you WILL ALWAYS be the best?

No, but he's also better at doing the things he invented

He puts together more rhyming words than Eminem

He tells better stories and street tales than Nas

He has cleverer and funny metaphors than Canibus

AND he influenced them all, so all that combined puts him ahead

At least in the 90's the talented MC's were getting shine and the wackness was either NOT taken serious or was never put on to begin with. Now below average MC's are considered "lyrical" and half ass albums from rappers who use their beats as a crutch get labeled "classic". There are some artist from this past decade that can hang with the 90's cats (Eminem, Fabolous, Jadakiss, Lloyd Banks, Lupe) but for the most part none of these new niggas can touch those 90's rappers.

Agreed ^^^^^^^^^

If you're talking about Nelly he served him, but the general consensus gave Nelly the win because of things beyond actual bars. Because there is no way from a technical aspect that Nelly outrhymed KRS One.

And Nelly probably never could if he tried his hardest but Rap has just turned into a popularity, run for class president type of bullshit so I guess we should expect a bunch of Krs Lawse type sentiments.

Also I totally agree with what Crooked I said in the video like he said niggas ain't got to be gangsta which too many try to do and everybody in the game ain't got to be on the political tip either. The serious problem with rap music now and in the last decade is that the artists don't take these albums seriously and I think it was also mentioned in another thread that some artists make too many mixtapes so by the time an artist gets started on putting out an album they basically have use all they're best material on that format and then when the album comes out either the music is sub par or trash.

He's right, as the years go by the new rappers are only interested in Faking Controversy, chasing Hit Singles and acting soft or overly gangsta....

Niggas don't care about their community no more, political music, or lyrics...nobody wanna put the wrok in...everyone wants to be a cocaine boss or a pretty boy wearing tight jeans.

take Kanye West for example, this nigga always trying to fake controversy, be different on some faggot shit...in the 90's a nigga like this wud have got shitted on...

after the 90's hip hop became big business and it's been downhill ever since...

this is why Jay z is still on top cuz everyone after him is soft or gay

True, people get a pass for everything nowdays.

Thankfully, we have some young lyricists saving hiphop like J Cole, Wale, Currensy, B.O.B., Cory Gunz, and Pill.

Dudes like J Electronica helping keep real hiphop alive too.

There was just as many wack artists in the 80's and 90's, but the difference is that the dope artists got the love back then. Now days you get more shine the wacker you are

Dudes like G Rap, Rakim, and Big Daddy Kane were in peoples top 10 lists in the '80s

And they were in peoples top 10 lists in the '90s

They were in peoples top 10 lists in the '00s

And they're still in peoples top 10 lists in the '10s

All these other dudes come and go, but these guys are always in the running
