None of the Artists you listed are doing something new or original. They are Carbon copies of something or someone before them. So, there is no golden age happening. That will occur when artists actually start creating instead of biting and stealing from the what's hot now safe.

Nah, most of those guys you named are trash musically. Their career will be finished in the next 5 years and the casual fans will look for another group of trendy artists to ride with.

Excuse me, were Nas and Jay original?

Are Nas and Jay the only MC's you know?

I think these days, everything is at your disposal. This age is truly what you make it. You can find what you want via the internet. We used to have no choice, and have to buy what was in the record store, or watch what was on BET or MTV. There's a lot of good music out here if you look. I got a ipod jack in the car, so that's all I listen to, I don't even know what's on the radio right now, there's a ton of good shit, you just gotta search a little.

Not sure of when and where you came up. When I was coming up we went to house parties, clubs, block parties and the DJ's would play all the new stuff, underground stuff, unreleased stuff, remixes etc etc. When I was coming up you really had to be a part of Hip Hop by getting out traveling and being involved. If, you weren't then yes you were just a Hip Hop bystander who got your Hip Hop experience through second and third hand outlets.

Hip Hop has always been whatever the Hip Hopper made of it.

You could line up every club DJ in my city as well as yours, there still won't be as much variety as there is now. There's an abundance of bullshit, but there's also a hell of a lot of quality. 10 nigga's closet full of records and tapes can't stand up to a google search.

You claim most of the artists aren't original, now.

Asking if Nas and Jay are original was pretty good question.

I agree with the fact that hip hop is in a great era right now!

But why did you have to include r&b dudes in a thread with the word rap in the title??

If you consider the flavor of blue berry just packaged in different color boxes variety then so be it.

Not considering there are hundreds of rappers beside those two.

But to answer your question because, you clearly have an ulterior motive.

Nas yes. Jay-Z no.

So Gucci mane, and Lupe fiasco are the same flavor in different boxes? Tyler the creator and Big Krit got the same sound too? C'mon B.

Obviously not. But Biz Markie, BDK, Kool G rap, KRS One and Rakim didn't sound the same either. So, clearly you missed the point. There isn't more variety now then there was let's 15-20 years ago even.

I made this thread over a year ago stating the same thing. Are these new dudes on the level of Nas, Jay, Big, Pac,etc, no. They are better than what came right before them though (southern rap era).

Some might not think R U STILL DOWN is a classic, but Ive never heard a mf say it was wack. U niggas is either hatin or never heard the album....
