If you were around in the 90s (i.e. over 12) you remember Wu-Tang dropped a string of classic albums in a row,

36 Chambers

Tical

Return of the 36 Chambers

Only Built for Cuban Links

Liquid Swords

Ironman

Wu Tang Forever

That's 7 albums from 93-97 and the only one that was less than 4 mics was Tical IMO.

Lyrically, all of Wu Tang could spit and they created a new style of rapping (along with Nas and Big) that was more poetical and visual than what rappers before them were doing. Just check out Raekwon's verse on "Rainy Days" (2:53) and you'll see the new style they ushered in. Cats weren't rapping like that before Wu-tang and Nas. I don't even think Big adopted that style until the "One More Chance" (Remix).

As far as production goes, Wu-Tang didn't have much sub-bass until Wu-Tang Forever but that's an East Coast thing. Also, I think 36 Mafia came a lil later.

Anyway, I voted for Wu

Honestly, I never heard of 36 Mafia until "Ridin Spinners" came out. In otherwords, they didn't make any noise at all until the 2000s. 19 albums huh? How many of them had a single that got any radio play? Did they have 1 song as popular as "You're All I Need to Get By" or "Shimmy Shimmy Ya"? Wu-Tang was a staple on Rap City and MTV. They sold numbers, gold and plat. If 36 was doing big numbers in the South, nobody in New York heard about em until much later. And we knew about Outkast, so its not a regional thing.

ur comparing a group in a market like New York City where all da radio stations nd companies are at to a group dat stayed in Memphis nd put their city on. also 3-6 mafia's content had em banned from most radio stations dats why u aint hear many singles til they toned their music down. u gonna act like da south was gettin play heavy in New York outside of Scarface nd Outkast in da 90's, really bruh? lls

Next thing you know cats gonna act like Crunchy Black can crush Meth or Ghostface

this site is the twilight zone as usual.
