Lets be real it doesnt work.
Ahmed Johnson
Ezekiel Jackson
Shad Gaspard
Titus O'Neil
Big E
Lashley
Mark Henry
Kama Mustafa
Viscera
Ron Simmons
How many times does it need to be done before niggas realize you need some type of character to stand out? You cant just be Big & Black and think you main event talent. It doesnt work for white guys so what make you think some medicore black dude is getting a nodd?
On that list i provided Big E, Zeke, Ahmed all IC Champions (Lashley was a champion but it was ECW champion) that didnt even help them.
Now let's look at some of those guys more successful gimmicks
"The Worlds Largest Love Machine"
"Sexual Chocolate"/"Hall of Pain"
The Godfather
Cryme Tyme
New Day
Faarooq (APA & NOD but we all know APA Faarooq was far more over)
How many of those are stereotypes? Kinda all of em right? Whether its dancing nigga or "angry black man" its all stereotypes. Niggas really gonna have to hang this argument up.

The real coons are the the black ppl that give us a stereotype that we're always violent, stupid, mad, yes niggas. These dudes as well as ptp have given us a positive image as African Americans. Xavier Woods graduated from Yale or Harvard or some shit and Titus Oneil won father of the year. When JBL and Michael Cole tried to downplay "the new day" as baffoons even Titus stood up and explained their level of intelligence as black men while making them colored commentators look like idiots.
Those main events, they've been passing the title back and forth to PTP (another black tag team). The Usos give these guys a ton of respect. The fact that the Dudley's came out of TNA to challenge these guys is a big deal and now main eventing over the likes of Reigns or Cena. It's beyond black excellence. It's black brilliance. These guys are making their way to being 1 of thee greatest heel tag teams of all time. Now they're on the roster with respect from Seth Rollins. The only other black man in the E to do this while the company tried to bury him was Booker T.
I want to first say good post but I don't think this gimmick is what I'd categorize as black excellence or black brilliance as you called it. Their individual accomplishments as black men both academically and in athletics is what I'd describe as black excellence and black brilliance. This gimmick has coonish traits and considering the history of the WWE I have a hard time giving them the benefit of the doubt that it's otherwise. It's quite telling that the company shot down their other ideas before agreeing to this. Them taking this bad gimmick and making it work is a testament to their talents, but it still doesn't change what it is as its core.
But the intelligence comes from 3 black men collaborating and creating a plan to put themselves in the spotlight. Now if the E decides to destroy their characters despite them winning the crowd over, who's fault is it? Wrestling is about winning the fans over, whether a comedic routine or a gimmick. Austin's gimmick was being a redneck and these guys played a gimmick which the crowd loves and can't be destroyed. Wrestlers are starting to realize that winning the crowd >>> winning Vince McMahon and HHH heart.
Crowds are cheering for Sasha Banks and booing the pasty bitches out of the divas champs. Crowds are booing Reigns and Cena but cheering for Ambrose, KO, Cesaro. Crowds are loving the new day attention. Winning the crowd over is not cooning. In my opinion, Mark Henry was the biggest coon for letting the WWE disrespect him over and over, kissing ass, ignoring the racism behind the scenes and not winning the crowd. The new day is following The Rock's routine by winning the people. A lot of wrestlers should be doing this and if using a gimmick to win someone over to take advantage is cooning then we're all cooning when we get our foot in the doors for job opportunities.
"These guys play a gimmick the crowd loves and can't be destroyed" Lmaooo these niggas just got over like that at SummerSlam, ppl hated the New Day and thought they were corny since they debuted before that, it's gotten to the point where WWE fans all follow the opinion of the crowd of said RAW that week bc New Day hasn't done shit different since they debuted when ppl hated them...
And elaborate on how they're using "The Rocks routine" to get over, i see NO similarities at all, The Rock used comedy but his character wasn't a joke like the New Day and he didn't have to sing and dance his way to make his gimmick get over....
The rock was the first nigga singing in the ring tho. Rock concerts? The nigga was singing Frank Sinatra at Survivor Series 2011. Didnt the nigga sing at WM too?
There was absolutely zero main event talents up to that point that had so much comedy in his act.
There used to be a saying that Cornette made popular on the internet "funny doesnt draw" but he turned out to be dead wrong because i guarantee 99% of the Rock's memorable promos have comedy.
