the bolded is not true, because at the time many women had to write under male pseudonyms just to get their works published and/or taken seriously (ie George Eliot). jane eyre was first published under the pen name Currer Bell. jane eyre and wuthering heights are classics, and deservingly so, because they are well written and captivating stories.

and i love both novels so i find it almost impossible to say which is better, they are both great in their own ways.

You don't think?...Don't get me wrong, its a great...I should probably re-read it (read it when I was super young...probably too young understand it fully)...I knew she wrote under a pseudonym, like her sisters did, but I didn't/don't kno' how long after the book it was discovered that she was a woman...

I think a female writin' a book about a strong-willed, lower-middle class woman was brave and empowering, and I think that added to the legacy of the book...Obviously, we'll never know...And I'm not tryna take anything away from Jane Eyre...Just a thought I had...
