Perhaps the simple law of thermodynamics explains the soul more accurately?
We are energy beings, we are electrical beings, when our physical bodies die our energy has to
go somewhere, it afterall cannot die or cease to be.

The question is how do you feel? Do you feel like you have a soul?
Don't wait for a scientist because their knowledge in the subject may be even less than yours. Scientists assume things until they they gain more knowledge. That's why they have theories and not facts.

"Soul," like "god," is one of the most arbitrary words in the English language. I've come to view "soul" as being synonymous with the ego or the self, with the self being a continuously developing construct of the brain. I believe that when the brain dies, the self or soul dies with it.
Regarding this exchange about scientific evidence for an immaterial, transcendent soul, it is impossible. The sciences deal in the realm of the physical/natural, so asking them to verify something of supposedly supernatural/metaphysical origin cannot be done by definition. That said, much like a god, I see no reason to believe in a transcendent soul. I guess it gives one a greater sense of personal value or purpose, but that's nothing more than wishful thinking in my opinion.

The law of conservation of energy* (not thermodynamics) was a good analogy, but that's if you think the "soul" is an atomic element. Who knows?

True, but that particular statement is conservation of energy. Thermodynamics is more heat transfer / energy transfer.

His point was that the only way to potentially uncover knowledge is to eliminate all pretenses to it (I.E. the Socratic Method).
