I have not read all the pages, just on what you posted.

Adidas is big, not many people rock it. It's just not what's in style. Nothing wrong with it, I still bboys and bgirls rock it and I see some other people wear it too. I have some shelltoes as well, but it's a sports brand. You said it's to stay fresh, there are plenty of brands that are fresh, they may be questionable, but regardless it's fresh. People love the Nike Dunks and Jordans, they have a high status. Gucci is a high status brand, it's quality and for those who have money. People will like quality and Gucci has a higher quality than Adidas...in theory. I know Crooks & Castles is a street brand that crosses over to many people that have money and those in the street. They use the Gucci colors and it gives it a sense of a high end streetwear brand. I wouldn't say New York fell off, but it's interesting to see what's hot. Some of it isn't.
