Most of the time white people have no clue on how to accurately rate a hiphop album, takes this years grammy nominations for example, what a joke..Nas is a victim of his own greatness it's hard to consistently put out classic albums Nas has at least four under his belt, but you can't just be a fan and give him a pass and say "It's Nas" even if the music has declined

Generally speaking, white people listen to better hip hop music than black people, so I don't udnerstand the notion that white people cant accurately rate a rap album. Go listen to gucci mane, OJ da Juiceman, or Wocka Flacka with the rest of your brethern.

Em>>>Nas

If Em murdered Jay on Renegades and Jay ended Nas' career in a way,

EM>>>Nas

Jay ended Nas career? Are you living in an alternate universe?

To be fair, Nas' albums have gone down-hill since that battle....

No Lost Tapes and God Son solidified him, then he released Street Disciple which was solid but not as good as it could have been if it were one disc. Then Hip Hop is Dead and Untitled two really good albums.

How do u figure???

Pre-Takeover, Nas released his best work...Illmatic, IWW, Stillmatic. Post-Takeover I have not felt any of his shit with the exception of Lost Tapes. Actually God son was OK, but still not better than Illmatic, IWW, and Stillmatic. Hip Hop is dead and Streets Disciple were horrendous and I thought "Untitled" was filled with repetitive and outdated subject matter.

Lost Tapes yes...God Son was mediocre, imo.

Nas' best work was done pre-takeover.....

Some of Nas best work was made in the 2000's. Yes I know Illmatic and It Was Written dropped in the 90's and those were some highly rated albums, but he showed the most creativity and growth in the 2000's, he became a much more complete artist in the last decade and figured out how to craft a song while sticking with the message.

Yes, to me it was repetitive and outdated....

And isn't the reason some people don't like eminem because they can't "relate" to him? So who is someone to tell me I can't dislike Nas because I do not relate to him?

Not that I am trying to speak for him but isn't that what he said? He did say you couldn't relate to it.

Yes you're probably right but the reason I feel it was outdated is because at the time the album was released was probably the greatest period of racial harmony this country has ever witnessed. The album was released about 4-5 years too late, imo.

Racism was as strong then as it is now, he spoke on different subject matters that most people can feel and relate to, dealing with how racist whites have a problem with Obama becoming president, talking about different race issues like affirmative action, segregation, giving history lessons and dope concept songs like Fried Chicken and although poorly executed Project Roach whichs talks about blacks in low income complexes. Talking about the N word and how it offends people and how people dont understand it's orgins. All that was and still is relevant, but thats my opinion.
