We cant get this in the reason one time tho..... but anyways this album is great ...i see the comparisons to HIGO but i see that album as the picture and this one is more of the analyzation of the characters in that picture ...you definately have to read the lyrics to catch everything thats being said additionally its good to listen to it in reverse but conceptually i diggin it the roots are in a zone right now ..

We can't get this in the reason one time though???

Are the two intertwined?

I haven't had time to digest it as a whole still, I still haven't made clear the whole concept either… but musically it's great and everything else that's already been said.

I did think about taking the booklet out of its sleeve. I get two weeks off in 3 days time, so I'm going to properly digest it when I have the time. On about my sixth listen though and I'm loving it. Good idea about listening to it front to back and back to front though :tu I know that the front is the ending on the disc from a review that was done previously. My favourite tracks are the instrumentals at the end! But Black Thought is incredible as Stupot says!!! Agreed on it all Stupot, this album was definitely worth the cop!

Word man I don't understand people sometimes (hiphopfans) all they do us complain about how hip hop is dead rapper are trash etc etc it when the dope shit drop they don't fuck witit?? The legendary roots crew should get an album sticky on GP ....

Yeah I feel you about the concept the forts two times I heard it I was like ... Shit I see there's a story going on but I really don't know what's happening ... So its not one of those pick up,play, get it records you gotta just peep the themes of what's happening the tones of the songs realize that each rapper and singer is speaking from redfords point of view ....it's sparse of details as far as the story but there's more than enough their once you read the lyrics and put the story back in order by playing it back to front... Look at it more like a soundtrack to a movie where the songs are meant to fit moments /feel/emotion of the events and not so much of a play by play of what's happening

As far as the HIGO cOmparison I just said that because that album was more of a look at society and the way people are in general whereas this album takes a look deep into a particular persons thought process within said society ....

I just like the fact that the roots tried to challenge the listener to actually listen pay attention and focus on the music as a whole not just compartmentalize it... Reminds me of those old Pink Floyd style concept records..

On GP? Is that Growing Pains section of the forum? I do know what you mean, but to be honest, I don't really converse with people who state that. Here in The Essence I think most posters are usually hyped about the good releases and they're a plenty in the underground. I have to admit that sometimes, in the quiet months, I feel that the subject matter isn't matching up with what I want to hear and I'm not as enthusiastic about hip hop. But when a Section. 80, Undun or Oneirology drops, I know that I still love the right genre of music.

It's definitely nice, I think I'll listen to HIGO a few times in one day and then throw on Undun after it for a few spins, will be a fun day to hear those two albums over and over and then see what I can piece together. Definitely think you're right about the booklet though, I need to pull it out of its sleeve.

Good breakdown though, props!

And yeah, I think anything that challenges the listener makes for great listening... it's a shame that more people aren't able to do this. I use the word 'able' as I'm pretty sure that most "emcee's" nowadays are incapable, given their lack of skills on the mic in general. It's great that the pioneers still show love for our culture; without them, most underground acts would be standalone in their movement for great music.

Did that drop this week? I thought it was only dropping in a few days time, I want to hear about how that album is as I wasn't feeling his last one and copped it as I always do… think it was Finding Forever.

As for this album:

Greg P.O.R.N said:
I’m in the double G, three-piece tux
Screaming dressed to kill
Hope somebody call my bluff
It’s a full house… sipping on a royal flush
Two queens is on my cuffs
Good times is in the cards
Living on borrowed time
I’m paying the extra charge
To feel like something small is worth a hundred large
Swag is on retard, charm is on massage
Wit is on guard, I challenge you to a duel
Who needs a chain when every thought's a jewel
God bless the weirdo when everyone’s a fool
Fuck a genie and three wishes
I just want a bottle, a place to write my novel
I am like heroin to those that hear a rhyme and think
How do you find this upper echelon this time
Let’s toast to better days, a beautiful mind, and a flow that never age

One of the standout verses of Undun??? I gotta check out the Money Making Jam Boys now.

Porn really stole the show on alot of these tracks ... That dude is something serious

No doubt, I've been bumpin' Money Making Jam Boys since hearing him on Undun! Unbelievable, I think the verse I posted from him on the last page is potentially one of the stealers of the show...

I can't get used to his voice though.

Seriously? Is he another Kendrick Lamar? I really have no problem with his voice :unno: I literally flipped when hearing him on Undun. Incredible. Although his subject matter seems to be different with the Money Making Jam Boys…

Just when it got to the 3rd song he was on, to me. Who knows? It did take me a minute to adjust to Kendrick Lamar's voice though.

Maybe you'll find it's the same with P.O.R.N. then… does anyone know if he has a solo release lined up?

people say stuff like this a lot ...i dont really relate ...to me thats like saying i cant talk with a cat from the south who has a drawl because your from a different region ...idk man its just a voice its unique but the flow and lryics he spits are too dope to let that voice thing overshadow imo
