He pointed out what he thought were L's Eminem took yet i did the same for Nas i'm a fan of both Artists but i knew H Rap was a huge Nas admirer so i had to point out the losses people say Nas took

H Rap couldn't handle it for the first time i saw hints of frustration in his posts but my question is why label Eminem fan's as stan's when on the IC there are arguably more Jay Z & Nas stan's?

Race is always mentioned but race is ignored when people point out Jay Z & Nas also have a majority white fan base and white people mostly purchase Jay Z & Nas records

People only wish to point out mostly white people buy Eminem records but leave out the fact Jay Z & Nas records are also mostly purchased by the same white people from the same suburban enviroment

Realistically take away his few records where he talks about being black but lets assume he was a white Artist with the same catalouge as far as Illmatic, It Was Written, Stillmatic and from New York, grew up poor like he did, was a conscious Artist like he is now

Even he could have hints of pro black Lyrics based on him growing around people that were pro black or just him studying past history look at Brother Ali he is similar to Nas as a Rapper but is white yet has some pro black Lyrics

But would he have sold more records if his skin tone was white?

I'm on the fence cos as talented as Nas is Lyrically he has a suspect Beat selection, he can't Write or perform catchy Hook's and his Music is quite dark so it lacks the charisma you get in a Ludacris Album for example

If we look at all of Nas Singles from all his Album's only I Can has reached the top 10 on the Billboard Chart so were as Nas is a Lyricist he hasn't been Wrote Hit records like others, he can't make club records or records for the ladies either

I think if he was white and with the same ability to Rap and the same style influenced by Rakim with the same catalouge as far as Illmatic i think Nas would still sell around the 1 Million mark with each Album

If we look at the highest selling Artists they all have great Production, Hit records that Chart well, charisma & Melody, Nas as good as he is at Rapping and he is damn good he lacks Melody & Harmony

This is my whole thing with the white Artists sell cos whites mostly buy CD's no one is gonna go out and buy your CD if they don't hear a catchy Hook or a catchy Melody in your records, for the most part people wanna hear Music they can relate to so not everyone is gonna connect with Nas records about the history of the world wether he is white or black & people want to hear good Beat's

So i'm using Nas an an example here cos while he has gone Platinum with most Album's he has been an average seller compared to a lotta his peers

I explained why i think Nas wouldn't sell that much more if he was white

This premise is not well thought out. Being black is a major part of what Nas is about as an artist.

But it sounds like you're saying that Eminem is a better artist, thus sold more than Nas. In reality it is Nas' background and subject matter that make him less palatable for white audiences.

This idea serves to prove that a major part of Em's success can be attributed to his "race".

that being said, I used to like Em a lot. I put a lot of cats on to him back in the days when he used to hang with the Outsidaz.

You say being black is a huge part of what makes Nas who he is this is where i disagree

If Nas was raised in a 2 parent affluent house in a Suburb of New York and graudated school and had parents who were happily married but was still black he wouldn't be the same poor Nas from Queensbridge Housing projects from a welfare single parent home

But if Nas was white but grew up in a poor hood like Queensbridge, had struggles but always took an interest in social things and history it is more then possible Nas can be who he is today even if he was white, i mean it's possible for a white Rapper to talk about the goverment and injustice of the world

Don't act like Nas was like 2pac from a black panther backround yes he is black but being white Nas could have still made Illmatic
