The Official 'The Walking Dead' Season 8 Thread

The last season finale of TWD was it's worse rated one, yet it still pulled in over 11 million viewers going head to head against.............wrestlemania.

They are still one of the most watched shows in history.............

The big question is what does this mean for the show? Nothing, necessarily. Even with 11.3 viewers, The Walking Dead is still one of the most watched shows on television. Plus, this doesn’t include numbers for those who watch it on demand afterward, digital downloads or streaming. For example, Westworld’s finale only got 2.2 million live viewers, while Game of Thrones’ season six finale drew in 8.9. Although Westworld and Game of Thrones are two of HBO’s biggest series, they don’t even come close to The Walking Dead’s numbers. Even on network television, the only show giving The Walking Dead a run for its money is The Big Bang Theory, which is still one of the most watched shows on television. Its season nine finale, which aired last year, brought in just under 20 million viewers.

Thats when I stopped watching.

Are they any closer to a cure? If not this shit still bushes status for me.

there is no cure. I hope in that coma sequence when rick wakes up he sees carl his wife and the baby and shane etc at his bedside all happy then moments later while they are having a happy reunion they here all kinds of panic shooting and commotion in the backround "the bodies in the morgue are walking .... arghhhhh!!!!....... then the camera pans in on a knowing look of despair on ricks face and he yells "nooooooooooooo!!!!!" *fade to black*

One of the problems some viewers had with The Walking Dead's seventh season was how under-utilised Carol Peletier was.

The fan-favourite character spent nearly a whole season isolating herself from everybody, holing up in an abandoned house. She had little influence on the narrative, and there were only small glimpses of her former self.

But good news: it seems the upcoming season eight will rectify that problem.

It sounds like the "bottle episodes" fans of The Walking Dead loathed in the show's seventh season won't be a problem in Season 8.

The Walking Dead showrunner Scott Gimple has been surprisingly open about the events of the upcoming season, including the widespread focus on more characters fans can expect when the show returns. The "bottle episodes," as fans call them, which have a singular focus on certain characters and eliminate screen time for other fan-favorites won't bog down the series after Episode 100.

“Because of the narrative that we’re following … the story this season is really spread out among all of the characters," Gimple told TVLine. "And the story shifts quite a bit in single episodes between lots of different characters on a consistent basis, which is a little more unusual for the show.”

Season 7 of The Walking Dead was burdened with balancing a huge number of communities and characters. Rather than tell their stories simultaneously through each episode, the series elected to visit one location per week, often leaving Rick Grimes and other major characters off the show for weeks at a time.

Yeah that's like #42 on the list of what's wrong w/ this show.
