@riddlerap
i know you like Queens rap
so check out "Queens Revisted" by Children of the Night
@BlackGerald
Intro - its cool, chill, not something id put on repeat. beat isnt generic, thats nice.
Kids From Queens - this is fire.. beat is ill as fuck. rhymes are nice, flows are sick. (made me think of Bryant Dope - Queens Kids, but better)
Trust - beat is minimal, but its cool, i like it, just kinda chillin in the background. chorus isnt strong, but its still good, verses are the best part, a couple corny-level punchline type lines, but not something id hold against the group.
part-way through random comment: looking at the track list, one thing i do hate is the random features of other unknowns. like, im already having a tough time figuring out who is who in the group, dont add more people to the mix. on that same note, i like when people have an adlib or part of their verse where they mention who they are, so the listener can figure it out.
Ellis (12:06 AM) - not the type of chorus i fuck with, beat is all right, feeling this song the least so far. "wanna put you on my eyelids so youre the only thing i see".. eh. hope thats one of the features on this song and not the main group members.. that was WOAT.
Woman - back on track with this one. i do feel like this beat lacks the creativity of the others, it sounds like something ive heard before, its not bad, just too familiar. beat kinda sounds loud over the vocals too. cant even understand the chorus but it sounded simple, yet good.
ILYAS - ok this beat is sick. as it starts i have high expectations. this shit makes me think of "The Underachievers" music, which is good, i fuck with them too. the acid references plus the beat made me think of TU. verses are nice. dude rapping at 1:45 is nice. sounds like Jay to me (voice), but i havent even heard a Jay song in forever, so dont quote me on that. also dude rapping at 2:10 just has a nice sound.. thats big to me. thats why i cant fuck with Tupac or BIG, i dont like their voices. chorus is somewhat lazy, "niggas...bitches" but transforms into something a bit better. everyone was nice on this.
Higher Learning - beat seems to be too loud, like on Woman.. almost drowning out what sounds like a pretty good first verse. chorus is similar to Ellis, something i dont really enjoy. song-ruiner for me, i couldnt put it on repeat, but i respect the verses. beat is simple too, but not as nice/creative as Trust.
Manishewitz - like the other SKYWLKR produced track, this started off ill, beat-wise. the drop didnt live up to my expectation, but its still smooth. im not feeling how the chorus comes in louder than the verses. verses were good though.
Northernplayalistic - 1st dude rapping, goat entrance/delivery/presence. followed up by solid raps from everyone. this is probably my 2nd favorite song on here, maybe 3rd. i hate females in rap, but the chorus was fine. wasnt some slow/winded down shit like on Higher Learning or Ellis.
'86 Mets (3:05 AM) - ive heard of Roc Marciano, but i dont know his sound. im guessing he was the 1st verse. it was ok. 2nd verse was better than the 1st. so was the 3rd. beat is pretty nice, all of them are mostly chill and original sounding. kitty litter line was wack, other than that im feeling this whole song, and im a Yankees fan. chorus is catchy.
World's Fair Party - another nice song. beat is grimier than most on here, i like it. 2nd dude sounded like Gillie on this, which is fine with me, i fuck with him. chorus is the weakest part of the song, but its still ok. all verses were nice.
Subway Series - another SKYWLKR beat, and its cool. i heard a Banks (Lloyd) line in here, which made me like it more than originally. beat is real ill halfway through, switching up for a bit. another solid track.
The Foundation - SKYWLKR again, killing it right off the jump. first verse lives up to the hype with the energy that this beat needs. 2nd verse is uptempo and nice too. this song goes. 2nd favorite track probably.
4:4THREE AM - just like two of the other tracks titled with times, its a lot slower than i prefer. just the beat is TOO melodic and like.. elevator-music-y. that being said, the longer i listened, the less bothered i was by the beat, and the chorus was fine on this one. the verses were nice, and the NWO reference put it over the top.. GOAT. best of the songs named after times (rivaling '86 Mets)
Overall thoughts/comments/rating:
firstly, i wanna point out, aside from maybe 1 or 2 songs, they didnt really have any bangers, it only came close on "The Foundation" and maybe "Kids From Queens". im not necessarily saying thats a bad thing, but there just isnt that one song that id put on repeat for days and days. with that said, id still fuck with this and put it on my ipod and in rotation. a few songs, like the two mentioned above, id definitely put on repeat for maybe a day or a few hours. and then off and on whenever i feel like listening to their style of music, id throw in almost all songs on this project. also, im re-listening to KFQ right now, and i think its the best song overall, but "The Foundation" might go a bit harder. those are my top 2.
only 2 songs i really wouldnt fuck with or add to my ipod (Ellis and Higher Learning)
ive never rated an album 1-10, for me its just if i fuck with it or not, and i definitely think this project is worth downloading/listening to. its got some replay value, and it was nice lyrically/beat-wise and deliveries/flows were mostly above average.
