Anyway, bottom line, Flash and the Furious 5 and Africa Bambaattaa were on some punk rock, leather chains and spikes but Run DMC (and Whodini, Fat Boys, UTFO, etc.) came out circa 1984 and put a stop to that. By the time the 80s ended rappers were dressing like drug dealers.

Radio

Raising Hell

Paid In Full

Bigger And Deffer

Criminal Minded

In Full Gear

It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back

Straight Outta Compton

No One Can Do It Better

Long Live The Kane

The Great Adventures Of Slick Rick

Critical Beatdown

As Nasty As They Wanna Be

Born To Mack

^^^^ Those are all genre defining albums that came out between 86-90 and they stand the test of time. The stuff thats coming out of the South over the past few years will be forgotten in 10 years.

That its a stage outfit so it ain't bad shit hilarious. All that shit sus.

That's like a nigga being a fag model and niggas going

"But chill he has a wife and kids in real life, it ain't as egregious. This just his day job!"

The southern acts that get rotation rarely do real numbers. The southern sound is still popular though.Nobody stays on top forever and the south is alienating other regions like how NY did.

It's always entertaining to read Hip Hop opinions based on who's on radio, how many internet hits or how loud someone's name is buzzing.

And don't forget how much money they made

With all due respect bro the south aint goin nowhere. Our imprint is too heavy n the game, judging by how many artist use our slang and our style of beats til this day.

Im from Texas. Niggaz here not too heavy on future, mostly bitches. On the real Big Krit & Curren$y rap circles around that dude.

Yeah because guys using autotune and wearing skinny jeans with your underwear showing is better than rapping with your regular voice and wearing cloths that fit.

You forgot how a lot of rappers in the 80s dressed? Shit was worse than these niggas and their skinny sweat pants

I'm from the south but I always been in tuned with the West and early days NY. Although 90s south music was hella dope, the new wave is the West. They making the best music right now.

Fuck Ebro and his trolling ass thoughts. The reason why the Future's and Young thug's of the world are even relevant is because him and other radio personality's like him play their garbabge 24/7. South still has it's hands in the game, but I would love for cats like Krit, Killer Mike and and Cole get more love down here than Boosie, Future and Young thug.

To be fair Krit, RTJ, and Cole are my top favorite artists right now, but based on overall appeal them alone can't carry the south. The West has dope conscious rappers, party rappers, weed rappers, and street rappers. Hell, YG is dope af now lol.
