Nasir “Nas” Jones won an Emmy Award for his work on a Liberyian documentary “Survival 1 Nas produced, directed and scored the music for the film. “Survival 1″ follows the journey of amputee victims of the Liberian civil war who form a soccer team and eventually be came champions

Nas says this about the Emmy.

“After all these years of making music, I am honored to have this be the first award I ever won of this magnitude,” he said of the win. “An Emmy before a Grammy.

With Great Pleasure I have this to say to all the NaS Haters - NaS WON.

He's right though, it's sad that after over 9 nominations, he's never won a Grammy (And they snubbed "Distant Relatives with zero nominations). He's never won any of the Big Awards like billboard or American Music award. This is huge, I'm so happy for Esco. He's had one of the most under appreciated careers in music.

Emmy's are cool but at the core NaS is a musican so a Grammy is more important. But for him to be able to get an Emmy is crazy. NaS music was also in the "Best Picture" for "Departed" and well as the Oscar Nominated films "Blood Diamond" and the Tyson Documentary. But NaS winning a Emmy might be one of the 1st for a rapper that's didn't act in a particular film.
