Kevin Feige Explains Why Spider-Man Is The Best Choice To Lead MCU's Phase 4

Spider-Man: Homecoming will have plenty of ties to Captain America: Civil War, but the sequel will be the start of something brand new.

Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige declared as much in an interview with Fandango, where he discussed Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 being a sort of palette cleanser for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, setting up the next phase.

“This five-movie arc, which is a lot of movies. From Civil War to Homecoming, to Infinity War, Untitled [Avengers 4] and Homecoming 2" said Feige. "That's a big chunk of Peter Parker that's never been explored before that is taking up all of our focus right now.”

Homecoming 2 is set to take place minutes after the ending to the fourth Avengers film, but it is still in the developmental phase at the moment.

“The second [movie] is all we're thinking about now,” Feige said. “This five-movie arc, which is a lot of movies. From Civil War to Homecoming, to Infinity War, Untitled [Avengers 4] and Homecoming 2. That's a big chunk of Peter Parker that's never been explored before that is taking up all of our focus right now.”

Spider-Man: Homecoming is eyeing a $200 million global opening, which could grow as early screenings have netted positive results. Homecoming currently has a 4.12 out of 5 on ComicBook.com's anticipation rankings.

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Stan Lee's Wife Joan Dies At 93
http://comicbook.com/marvel/2017/07/06/stan-lee-wifes-dead-joan-lee/

Sadly, news has just broke that Stan Lee's wife Joan has passed away at age 93. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the tragic news moments ago.

"I can confirm the sad news that Joan Lee passed away this morning quietly and surrounded by her family," a spokesperson for Stan Lee and his family told The Hollywood Reporter. "The family ask that you please give them time to grieve and respect their privacy during this difficult time."

According to sources, Joan Lee suffered a stroke earlier this week and was hospitalized. The former British model married Stan Lee back in December 1947. Reports say the pair instantly fell in love, and they had two children together. J.C (Joan Celia) was born in 1950 while Jan was born in 1953. Sadly, their second child passed away shortly after being born.

Last year, Stan Lee spoke with The Hollywood Reporter and recounted how he met his wife. Joan moved to New York during World War II after marrying an American soldier after her childhood sweetheart wed someone else. Joan was unhappy with her new situation, and Lee said his cousin wanted to try and set him up with someone. The family member had a model named Betty in mind, but Lee wound up meeting Joan instead.

"When I was young, there was one girl I drew; one body and face and hair. It was my idea of what a girl should be. The perfect woman. And when I got out of the Army, somebody, a cousin of mine, knew a model, a hat model at a place called Laden Hats. He said, 'Stan, there's this really pretty girl named Betty. I think you’d like her. She might like you. Why don’t you go over and ask her to lunch.' Blah, blah, blah.

"So I went up to this place. Betty didn’t answer the door. But Joan answered, and she was the head model. I took one look at her — and she was the girl I had been drawing all my life. And then I heard the English accent. And I’m a nut for English accents! She said, 'May I help you?' And I took a look at her, and I think I said something crazy like, 'I love you.' I don’t remember exactly. But anyway, I took her to lunch. I never met Betty, the other girl. I think I proposed to [Joan] at lunch.”

Our thoughts are with Stan Lee and his family at this time.

Damn man that's sad as hell. RIP and condolences to Stan. I hope he don't die from a broken heart

Great Great movie and reintroduction of Spiderman through the iteration of Tom Holland.

It was a small scale novie in comparison to all the other world ending superhero movies that have comeout in the past.

Tom Holland captured the essence and i think what people who love the comicbook love about spiderman , wisecracking , smart but still having teenage problems and high school.

Amazing supporting cast especially Michae Keaton as the villian , he bodied that role and his motivations were pretty understandable and sincere ,(the plot twist/reveal was really well done). That vulture suit tho!!!!

All the action sequences were very well doen especially the "Ferry scene" which yall have partially scene, the washington monument rescue and the Final battle.

Robert Downey Jr should just play Tony Stark forever coz its so effortless for this nigga , and dont worry he is in the movie the right amount its not a buddy flick as the trailer kinda suggests.

Spidermayne suit is the most creative origin piece ive seen in any of these movies and so dope....

the Mark 3 spidey suit tho !!!!!!cant await for infinity war

Cap and Tony gonna make up coz , Cap getting a new sheild!!!!!!!

Happy Hogan killed it and there was a pleasent surprise cameo yall niggaz might love.

Zendaya, Aunt May and Danny Glover were under used in this , but i think they will be set ip for a sequel. Parker's sidechick was funny as fuck.

the jokes are quick, fast and constant like the Guardians series but not that jarring .

It will be an instant hit and classic with teens...

9/10.

I had some gripes with guardians 2, but overall I enjoyed it.

Shit was a disappointment. Had nothing to do with the overall MCU story and the best part was the forest scene and the ship escape. Movie was just a cash grab.

Well dammit what was the best part?

A little off topic...

But I'm watching Age of Ultron, and during Thor's vision with Heimdall and he's talking about everyone dying and calling Odin's son a destroyer, is that a direct reference to what's to come with Ragnorak?
