I'm not bashing the movie. I'm just saying it's weird that Gunn is being tapped as one of the driving forces for the MCU when he has taken stances with both of his movies to minimize the MCU influence on the movies.

His role is putting his focus on the Cosmic side of marvel though. We got infinity war coming up and im sure that will be influenced a lot by the more cosmic side, then its sounding like Gunn will be using GotG 3 as a movie where multiple cosmic stories will branch off of.

Russo's Main force of Avengers/Earth

Gunn Main force of Guardians and the cosmos

Phase 4 and later sounds like they will be taking it to space a good amount. Got Captain marvel coming in too who very well could be the New Captain America type role/leader of the next few years of marvel.

Black Panther Producer On The MCU's Future Installments

With films such as Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther set to hit screens in the next year, many fans are eager to discover how the films fit into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. While many of the established MCU characters are set to come together for Avengers: Infinity War, not much is currently known about what the cinematic universe will build to afterwards.

According to Marvel producer Nate Moore - who has had a hand in both Captain America: Civil War and Black Panther - the company is beginning to consider what films and properties to add to the MCU's slate. In a recent interview with Complex, Moore described all of the deciding factors that will help Marvel choose future films.

"So we’re finishing up what we call Phase 3, which will sort of end with the fourth Avengers film in 2019. And then I think for us, we continue that conversation of, what’s next? Who will be the new heroes who can tell great new stories and bring us to new worlds that we haven’t even had a chance to visit yet, while still expanding on the slate of heroes we have and finding the next step for characters people have come to love? We’re looking for the next best story. And then we let the story tell us what we should be making as part of that one united narrative in the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

This should excite fans of the MCU, particularly those who are excitedly anticipating Moore's latest film, Black Panther. While fan-favorite characters such as Shuri (Letitia Wright) and Dora Milaje members Nakia (Lupita Nyong'o) and Okoye (Danai Gurira) have yet to officially make their MCU debut, some have already been clamoring for the characters to receive their own spinoff properties. Marvel fans will just have to wait and see whether or not those spinoffs could happen - or if Marvel will choose to further expand its universe in a different direction.

After the events of Marvel's Captain America: Civil War, King T'Challa returns home to the reclusive, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to serve as his country's new leader. However, T'Challa soon finds that he is challenged for the throne from factions within his own country. When two foes conspire to destroy Wakanda, the hero known as Black Panther must team up with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje, Wakanadan special forces, to prevent Wakanda from being dragged into a world war.

The film stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira , Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis. Additional cast members include Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Sterling K. Brown, and John Kani.

Ryan Coogler directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole.
