supposedly the movie is set around Iron Man 2 time

watch the first couple points

This movie to me seems set after Civil War
He was asked to be Rhodes surgeon

IGN has an article about the movie, said the director Scott Dickerson made it clear they weren't talking about Rhodes or the test pilot from Iron Man 2.

Said all of Dr.Stranges training takes place over a year, and at the end of the movie it's caught up to the MCU timeline.

It throws people off cause of Agent Sittwell mentioning "Steven Strange" during Winter Soldier. I figure the reason he mentioned him is cause that algorithm found him. The way the algorithm found him is cause, if u watched the movie, Mordor says Strange had to have been born with sorcery inside of him in order to understand and master those books so easily. Because he basically picked up the book and the eye, and then started using them both like it was nothing

The continuity seemed off though, cause they been name dropping Stephen strange for years and he's just becoming Dr strange now around the time of avengers 2?

Strange fit the Hydra algorithm because even before becoming a sorcerer, he had a penchant for saving lives and would have eventually made major breakthroughs in the field of surgery. He was pretty much regarded as the best surgeon, period.

to add to that didn't arnem zola tell cap and black widow that the algorithm was like a blue print or crystal that was able to fortell the worlds future and events. they already knew Stephen strange would somehow become a threat to their plans before he became a sorcerer. taking out strange would have been like shutting down nikola tesla.

It was iight I enjoyed it and look forward to Stranges next appearance and sequel. I don't think I can put this in my top 5 MCU movies though.

Same complaints as other MCU movies. Villain with no character development. Disposable. But I enjoyed the movie. The visuals were stunning. 7.5 outta 10

I like that he's going to be back and I understand his motive but he could've used more screen time definitely. Doc Strange learning the mystic arts felt kinda rushed to me also.

On the villain:

Kaecileus got just the right amount of character development needed for the role he played in the story. He was a zealot and a willful follower, first of the Ancient One and then of Dormammu. Who Kaecileus was wasn't important in comparison to what he was doing and who he was essentially working for. He was never meant to be a deeply enthralling character with the potential to exist past the first Doctor Strange film. He could have been, basically is, one of any countless number of mindless ones whose misguided understanding about the universe led him down a destructive path.

His character served two roles, introducing Dormammu and as a bridge for Mordu to go from hero to villain. Unlike Red Skull, Abomination, Malekith, and Ronan, Kaecileus has no reason to exist in the sequel.

Speaking of Malekith, wasn't he trying to engulf the universe in darkness? Now Dormammu wants to do the same thing.

Well he is dormammu what else would you expect his motive to be? Rick e to this dimension hit the club and turn up?

I'd watch that movie.

Good point.

Really had a good time watching this movie, several good laughs and excellent visuals. Dormammu got the Galctus treatment damn near smh. Mordo gonna be a bad mutha later. Why the Ancient One have that weird grimace face all the time??

Kaecilius is returning most likely as a Mindless One and I'll assume Nightmare could debut as the next villain for the sequel.

By the time you see him again, you won't recognize him because he's going to be in an army of rock creatures with a purple light bulging out the middle of their faces.

His character is done, which is my point.
