Nigga even if its a bullshit album its a hip hop album that definitely has some great features on it so if anything its exposing those artists and helping hip hop

How much exposure does Nas or Busta really need???

Apparently this is only the 18th album to sell a million in a week since SoundScan began tracking sales data in 1991.

Lady Gaga was 17th earlier this year, anybody know of the others???

how is it a good look.....all it proves is that you can make a bullshit album and sell.....we'll have more cats dumbing down their lyrics and freestyling in the booth rambling on bout a bunch of nothing and calling it HIP HOP.....if thiscat would have went double aluminum...that would have been a good look for HIp HOP.....ROCK THE BELLS TOUR was a good look for HIP HOP....RAKIM taking a shit this morning was more of a good look for HIP HOP instead of lil wayne selling 750k first week...and BABY prolly bought 300k by himself...smh

Did you read my entire post or did you stop short before the part were I said SALES WISE??

Sales wise a HipHop album sold a Millie without putting 3 white boys on it like 50-Cents "Curtis", or some straight up pop ish like B.O.B

As far as quality and purity is concerned I'm not even trippin because LiL Wayne is a marketing genius and he knows how to cater to the buying demographic and the consumers who buy the majority of rap albums......it's basic Marketing 101.

I salute the bravery but cringe at the degeneracy.

Really?? That's suprising Figured it would be more.... Makes me wonder how much these first week sales even matter

First week sales don't matter in all honesty. If you look at the biggest selling albums of all time, I doubt any had 800,000 plus sales in its first week. Rather what they do have is consistent sale patterns over weeks, months and years. Look at Adele "21" for a current example. I'm not sure how much she's sold but she's spent 27 weeks on the Billboard 200 charts, peaked numerous of times to number 1 and has never fallen further than #4 (which she only did once).

wayne not putting a hite boy on the album and still selling doesn't impress me.....i agree he a marketing genious...but i don't see how this album helped HIP HOP in any way....lets check his record sales after the hype wore off...

That's my point .... It just kills me when prople want to crown someone or shit on someone else based on first week sales when in all reality that shit has no bearing on the quality of that work or artist as a whole.... The thing is how does ur album come out the gate sell a milli in a week! then turn around and two years later only do 3mill?? Total.....seems small in comparison to those other albums on the mill in a week list.... Something about that progression dosent make sense .... Either the album was trash and didn't have staying power to consistently sell and or those first week numbers were inflated by someone for promotional purposes ...... And this aint no hate on weezy shout out to him ... But shit don't add up and we pay way too much attention to sales in hiphop culture...

Wayne don't need a white boy on the album when he dressing and mimicking one himself

Opening week sales are on par with what they were 10 years ago. It's not until the leak goes into overdrive, which usually isnt until after it's released, that the sales sink.
