Most aren't gonna notice the difference in quality thus it'll basically be a waste of bandwith unless your ISP offers completely unlimited, uncapped service

This is pretty nice. I mostly listen to flac. You can hear more instruments and subtle shit with flac if you have high quality speakers with an amp or Top shelf headphones (non of that beats bullshit). It's basically a compressed rip of a CD or VInyl which is larger than a MP3, but smaller then a Wav file (which is uncompressed). It maintains a average lossless bitrate of 700 or better as opposed to 320 for the best MP3 format. Apple has Alac. Lossless means it compresses without dropping segments of the audio like MP3 which takes out lows and highs. This service is for Audiophiles, and many in that crowd will pay the asking price.

I just explained right above this inflammatory comment. You can't possibly perceive the quality difference of lossless with Beats headphones. I don't see how that's even a apples and oranges comparison.

It's compressed, but it's lossless which means it doesn't truncate the music resulting in a larger file then a mp3, but a smaller file then a uncompressed raw wav.
