This is how twisted shit can be. If you're 8 in the Finals at the Olympics, you may have been dead last in that particular race. But you're still arguably the eighth fastest human alive. There are over 7 billion people on t he planet. That's not exactly something to be ashamed of. Keeping it real, just getting to the Olympics medal or not is a much larger accomplishment than people tend recognize.
