Em is entertaining and '8 Mile' was one of my favourite hiphop movies because I could relate to it. My situation growing up was very similar and, as a white dude, it was nice to see another white dude who could spit fire on the mike and wasn't a 'gimmick' like Vanilla Ice, Snow, etc. etc. Though he did get more 'gimmicky' as his fame grew...

Em always had some nice lyrics and funny punchlines but I can't co-sign a lot of that cornball stuff he did. I guess it is hard when they are waving all that money at you but I wish he had did more songs like 'Forgot About Dre' and less songs like 'We Made You'. I mean I swear 10 of his videos are basically the same formula... him acting cartoony while making fun of the current pop stars / actresses, Superman, and Elvis.

Less of the 'pop star' Eminem and more of the 'spitter' and he would probably move into my top 5 GOAT list...

and even the likes of Talib and Mos Def are limited in their game homie...they are lyrical and can flow like theres no tomorrow but OVERALL artists means more than just technical ability. Can they write songs as well, be as diverse as Em, produce as well and appeal to as many people as Em does? No. Period. Yet they are incredible rappers.

Em appeals to a mass majority because his people are the majority on earth. There are more Caucasians, not to mention more caucasians with money to spend than there are any type of people on the planet. Mos and Kweli rhyme about all types of things under the sun while being able to make good songs on top of that. But do you really expect a bunch of white people to buy music talking about something they know nothing about? I mean seriously think about what Kweli and Mos rhyme about and then you will see why they don't sell a lot of albums. They talk about stuff they see around there way and uplifting black folks through knowledge of self. Now production wise you are right that Em produces and i don't think those two do that.

I agree 100%!!!!! I liked him before he got signed and when he was on the wake up show rhyming almost the whole show so people would hear who he was. I remember when he first got signed by Dre and I was happy for dude. But like you said he started doing a lot of bullshit

Niggas mad the whiteboy is more than likely better than they're favorite rapper. I use to be a brain-dead hater until I gave homie a listen. He's really dope. Only Jay and Nas are above him as a better overall artist.

Speak for yourself.

I cant get past his voice or voices, and his comedic/shock material aint my type of hype.

The cross-dressing, racist-tapes, and gay stunts just make him unlikeable to me and everybody that I know.

With thousands and thousands of rappers out there to listen to I dont see the desire to listen to the music of a rapper who I cant relate to on any level or find entertaining.

smh. i hate that bitch clownin. but this what i get, its impossible to build an argument for slim without ppl comin on n hatin n starting the stan bullshit....smdh ......i tried

and The 3mcee i feel wot u sayin and tbh with u i fucks with blackstar hard but on a diversity level i think Em shades it. I see Mos Def and Talib more as poets than artists if such a differentiation can even be made. With regards to the artists debate i dont mean to attack them lyrically here because those two are almost unmatched in lyrical content but i meant by diversity with something more musical, the types of songs they get on and the beats and structures they rhyme to...Em is a little like Kanye in that respect that he varies his shit up a lot and he gets on a few tracks that push the borders of hip hop. but im inclined to agree with you, i probs went too harsh on them both since they can most def fuck with Em.

and young-ice i see u homie twista has a LOOOOT of music and most is hella hot but how many different flows have you heard from him? You feel me...hes quite limited in that respect n i always got the feeling the homie kept in his comfort zone and didnt do enough with the talent he had/has

He has though and that is what people are sleeping on. He has made on my count 7 cartoony stupid songs like we made you but approximately 20 or more songs in a similar style to forgot about dre.

he makes the cartoony shit to make money, he makes the other shit to rep hip hop, himself and the skills

10 reasons to dislike Eminem's character

1) He's a suspected racist
2) He wrote an entire diss song about a woman. Goof shit
3) He beat his Wife (ya'll forgot about that, ay?)
4) drug addict
5) He talks tough, but when push comes to shove he has to use a weapon to fight the dude his wife been suckin off for 2 years
6) He disrespects his momma like no tomorrow.
7) He's a grown man making music crying about his child hood. grow up.
8) He doesn't mean anything he says. (see homsexual insults, female insults, racist remarks, etc )
9) He waited 3 years before making a tribute track to proof (that still is like wtf to me)
10) he does gimmicky things when they're unnecessary (dressing up like a woman in videos, getting brunos ass in his face)

I don't need to know him, know these things and say "yeah eminem ain't cool."

None of that shit has to do with the man's music. It sounds like his personal life hurts you in some way

I respect your opinion and like I said I am far from a hater of Em but I am far from being a fan of his now days. I like the way you presented your views without totally biased and I wish more people did that on this site. But I am honestly glad they don't because it wouldn't be as entertaining as it is if people were more civil. LOL

Brilliant post, if I cant respect a rapper as a human being I dont see any reason why I should suffer myself with their music.

1.) Rapping about homo-ish
2.) Rapping from a comedic angle
3.) Rapping about sucka-fa-love shit
4.) Rapping in weird and strange voices
5.) Rapping diss songs about pop artists
6.) Rapping about pedophilia, incest, beastiality and rape
7.) Raping in a sing-songy voice thats irritating
8.) Rapping disrespectful lyrics about your own mother
9.) Rapping primarily for a fanbase that dosent include me
10.) Rapping about Jeffrey Dahmer a white man who preyed on Black victims and song/videos dissing Michael Jackson during his trial.

...Then you go on to list things that are based solely on his music.
