and you H Rap are the onese that put that standard on if you can't take a rapper sersiouly. If Luda did that, i'd have no problem with it b/c i know it's for entertainment value. So only point that finger at yourself.

Not even going to get into the comparison of 3am verses to the 100's of rappers that glorify carrying guns

entertaining h-rap with wisdom is like showing a deaf person a silent-movie.

Mos Def should not have one a grammy for that album, honestly that was one of the biggest let down albums of the year.

I thought the album was phenomenal.

Did u listen to the 3-am lyrics?? Even KRS1 said the writing of that song was brilliant. Serial killer or not, the writing was brilliant. People actually watch horror movies if you didn't know.

And btw.. eminem never uses his girls's actual voice. Just cos its a little girl, you assume its his daughter.

How about Pdiddy hawking his son all over the place??

Then people talk about race.. The same people that first looked down on an upcoming wannabe whiteboy rapper with no chance of ever making in the black man's genre. Now hes making it, they turn it around and say its cos of his color.

I won't begrudge Em his album numbers. His curse became his gift. But that boy spits fire man..

I think that's a wonderful standard to have considering the rappers I grew up listening too. I can't sit and witness rappers doing dumb shit and write it off simply as entertainment. I think that's a cop out.

Up untill recently hiphop culture has always promoted a masculine image, and it became hyper-masculine after a while with all the posturing and chest-poking.

That Black masculine image with the shirtless rapper is a signature, its almost embedded in the fabric of this culture and to step across that line into the realm of cross-dressing and dressing in drag would be career-suicide for a Black rapper....he would most definitly cross-over but he would lose the streets and his core audience.

This whole effeminization movement is sickening but Emenim proved it could be successful, so other will follow $$$$$$$.

CAN EMINEM SALES BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY?

To that I want to add, do you think he sells solely because he is WHITE? His whiteness is what sells him, thats the only thing that does, nothing besdies that?

That's what I'm getting now in this thread, that his talent has nothing to do with it. That every fan has said, "it's because he's white".

I'm sure we've all heard ONE person say it, maybe TWO. Does that account for ALL fans? Just because his fan base is white though? Lil Wayne would have to be considered as a serious seller too then, right? 50 Cent too. They have a bigger white fan base than black.

What other artists can we list now if we're determining this shit by white fan bases? Now that I think about it, this thread is stupid. I explained that yes, being white did help but Lil Wayne and 50 are BLACK and yet they still have a HUGE white following.

False, if you cut Eminem Sales in Half, That's 40 Million Worldwide and 17 Milion Domestic. Worldwide: Pac and Jay Z would be ahead of him. domestic, Tupac, Jay Z, Outkast, Run DMC, Biggie, Nelly, Will Smith would all be ahead of him.

And everyone knows 17 million isn't a big deal and isn't alot of money. SMH.

Other than the amusement that we get out out of teasing groupies and people who are idol-worshippers and rabid fans, we get to see how intense and fanatical people are towards their hero's.

To most of us Emenim is simply another rapper, simply an entertainer nothing-more-nothing less

To many people he is a white-cultural-icon, they view him like we would view Muhammad Ali or Martin Luther king, their idolization and worship of him is the same as ours towards the champions of our causes.

Once we understand this mindstate we can understand Dretox, Capo1, and Gee757 and the others wh Emenim referred to on his classic song "Stan".

These people are not simply defending a rapper, they are defending a cultural symbol and icon within their culture. We must remember this while antagonizing them.
