I haven't read most of the posts in this thread, but I pose this question to people who have liked Wayne pre- Carter 3:

What were you people listening to then that makes his voice, lyrics, and flow weak now?

This dude is the same guy that always croaked sub-par lyricism, yet people act like he all of a sudden started rappin' when he dropped C4. I've listened to a lot of his music since he debuted and never thought he was as great as people made out to be. I mean, people say C2 is his best work and that had embarrassing lyrics too.

His lyrics were never that great, but he always had dope flow. At one point he was top 5 flow wise. Check BMJR, Renegade Freestyle, Tha Mobb, etc... I don't feel like posting them. But even now his flow is wack, which makes his lyrics even worse. And while he used to say something wack, and follow it up with something nice, now he's consistent with the wackness.

And I used 2 be a big Wayne fan..Lights Out, Carter1, C2, Prefix, SQ, D1 n D2, n No Ceilings Wayne (Wayne has it in him)..but C3 was trash and C4 is average at best, coulda been better but the bad lines were horrible. I like some of the songs n can play all but he is not worthy of the title he keeps makin yall believe...

I've heard 2/3 of the tracks you listed and don't really hear a difference in Wayne then and Wayne now. Wayne still has moments where he says something wack and follows up with something nice. That's what he's been doing since he started with that punchline style of rap he's been on since 500 Degreez. Ever since he started connected every other couple of random thoughts with the word like, people started jumping on the bandwagon. I guess using Drake and Big Sean's "supa dupa flow" makes the wack lines more obvious, but Wayne has been inconsistent.

ive always hated wayne i liked him for a sec on some songs back in like 04/05 but after reading the c4 unquotables thread its safe to say that this nigga has to be one of the WOAT. His garbage has overpowered/overshadowed the talent he had in 04/05 and truly believe the music industry TANKED and was desperate when this nigga won a grammy.

Wayne in '04/'05 had unquotables for days that would be as thread worthy as the unquotables thread for Carter IV. The industry wasn't desperate, it was experiencing the same thing that a lot of folks experienced when he dropped the first and second Carters dropped. They thought he was indeed the best rapper alive.

No hate on Wayne, but it's like people think dude just recently became mediocre when Carter 4 dropped. When he struggled to go platinum with the first and second Carters this site was filled with posters that had people placing Wayne up there with the Jays, Nas's, Pacs, and Biggies. Now that the mainstream caught on to him and are doing the same, he's all of a sudden been reduced to a mediocre talent that lost the fire. Maybe that fire wasn't there to begin with and everybody co-signing him as the next great one (even during C1 and C2) was desperate.
