On The Grind from the Lights Off album made me start taking Lil Wayne serious. I came in the thread to post that joint. I think this is the song that was the catalyst for what he became in '08. After "Stuntin' Like My Daddy", Wayne was everywhere.

I dont know if anyone mentioned this but when he made a song about him being the best rapper alive and thats when my eyes widen up and I was like "oh really, nigga?" then I was like I gotta hear what this nigga bout to bring after he said that but then I think bout it, he first mentioned that "best rapper alive" shit on the carter 1, his first single off the album, "bottom of the map" I think. that single didn't do much buzz but i thought that single was fuckin hot. it was like a warm-up to somethin big that was bout to erupt from this nigga... the shit was hood and he actually spazzed out on the lyrical tip on that song...thats when i saw this nigga maturing but I noticed his transition in 500 degrees...nigaz punchlines, similes, methaphors was hitting. this lil nigga was startin to use that wordplay shit and alot of it was funny and caught my attention.
