affiliation with wayne and signing with ymcmb are 2 different things anybody can get a lil wayne feature and cosign nowadays hell artists from other labels get just as many wayne features as drake. Nikki was buzzing and again didn't need ymcmb to blow up. Her pop rap woulda blew up on any label.

Drake's name and buzz grew GREATLY because he affiliated himself with Wayne around the time Wayne's popularity was peaking.... than he signed and the rest was history.

And Nicki would NOT be as big as she is now if it wasnt for YMCMB, stop.

if lil wayne had or has so much buzz then why havent over 50% of his artists even dropped a solo album under him? Lil twist? gudd gudda? Corey gunz? all these rappers were hyped up by lil wayne and they never made it to release day. If drake didn't have the degrassi fanbase the mixed race lightskinned marketability and a flow in mixtapes pre signing to young money that was different than the average joe than he would have never made it.

But look at lil twist who had a single with wayne on it....never dropped. Corey gunz was on multiple wayne songs...still no drop. Gudd gudda is under the alleged buzz building ymcmb yet still no release date. I would give wayne credit if he could have turned gudda gudda into a household star but he can't and didn't.

As far as nikki her modern day lil kim flow would have blown up on def jam or bad boy or any other major hip hop label a few years ago. Your acting like outside of YMCMB you couldn't have buzz a few years back which is false. The roc nations manage ri ri and cole. MMG has wale and meek. GOOD music stole last summer from YMCMB. In this era its less about the label and more about getting in with the super friends. If drake never signed with ymcmb he would still be on khaled songs and jay z songs and ross songs and so on.

the bolded proves that signing to ymcmb didn't do shit for them. If an artists has the it factor and drake and niki were making a name for themselves what difference would it have made if they signed to MMG or roc nation or good music? As a matter of fact those artists signing to a promotional moster like MMG might have done more for their career than singing to YMCMB.

Top notch lables unlike YMCMB can take mediocre acts like diddy did with danity kane or da band and promote them to a level that they get to the top of the charts due to the labels push promotion and intergration in TV social media etc. YMCMB doesn't do shit for their artists.

and lets be honest drake simped rihanna and did some grammy level collabs with her and she wasn't part of the label. he woulda been trina still wife up nikki and doing collabs even if both of them never signed with young money trash money.

You have no idea what other labels were offering drake at that time who are you to say it was the best deal? Were you at the table where drake was signing table were you in the room? At the end of the day since 2008 to the present the label has not done enough for drake as an artist. Otherwise he wouldn't have thrown in those shots in the beginning.

Even though MMG was new good music was not a household brand. But regardless of how hot they were those labels could have easily promoted a mixed race half autotune half rapping former child star that writes raps that appeal for women easily. Drake would have still gotten features from trey from wayne from other superfriends and would have still blown up. And drake would have actually got paid instead of getting "reality checks".
