Jay-Z cannot be compared to other rappers, he's not like other rappers, he's on a whole other planet than niggas. There I said it, Jay-Z is so much more than "just" some rapper. He's a Hip Hop pioneer, living legend, trend setter, trailblazer, TRUE LYRICIST, all in a time when Wayne, Gucci and Waka Flocka are supposed to be the NEW HIP HOP REIGN.

'Pac couldn't do it, Big couldn't do it

Cube had it and lost it

Pun couldn't do it

Fat Joe CAN'T do (I love his music tho, lol)

Scarface is the man, but he ain't doin' it

LL had and lost it

Wu had it and lost it but still got it but really still don't

Jay-Z got it, kept it and won't let go until he's done with it. Who else been around as long as him and is still a BANKABLE artist in today's Hip Hop climate? This nigga is 40 fuckin' years old (that alone should seperate him from others) but he's 40, making mature Hip Hop for his age group (25-45, who has that age bracket locked in hip hop?) And still able to top the charts at no. 1 over Lil' Wayne, Drake, Gucci, Waka, whoever.

2Pac gave Mobb Deep a pass. He ran the Outlawz, he gave a lotta niggas love over the niggas he dissed yet, its the niggas Pac gave love to that careers is fucked up. They say if Pac was alive Jay would have no career, but you can't stop the songs Jay-Z made. Everybody Pac dissed is livin' good and all the ones he had love for are the ones fucked up. Niggas fall off everyday and how do we know Pac and Big would keep making hot shit, them niggas ain't run shit like that, they would be right there with all these other old ass crying rappers talking about these new niggas is wack. Jay-Z don't even fuck with these niggas like Gucci and whoever and he's still on top of them.

Hell yeah Jay-Z is on a pedestal, he overcame everything and he's like the hood's Obama, Jay-Z was the first Black president in my eyes, he did more for young Black men by example than Barack ever has. he showed us that we can get it even if we didn't follow the traditional, go to college, get a degree become president of something. He ran the streets, worked his ass off in them booth's and became president of Black America. See it's so much more than rap, wayyyyy Deeper Than Rap, we're talkin' about an icon.

And fuck u niggas that wanna call me a Stan, that just proves that u know i'm right and WISH I were wrong.

Feelings will be hurt by this, but i agree with you a 100 percent. These niggas are hurt plain and simple, Jay is where they wish there favorite rapper is and i don't want to hear shit about Pac, the nigga was a bitch made dude and got intimidate by NY rappers and that's why he dissed all the prominent mcs (Prodigy,Jay,Biggie, etc) at that time. If anything you lame ass niggas should be pulling for dude to succeed because he is breaking down doors and stretching the genre so niggas like Lupe,Wayne,Kanye, etc can rap in their 40s and sell out rock events. Dude doesn't really need to rap anymore, and he damn sure don't have to put on rappers like J Cole, Wale, etc. Matter of fact he is one of the few niggas other than Lil Wayne who put on other rappers.

You obviously don't get me. Your pre-school azz went straight for the bait. It was too easy. But since you picked the obvious of the 10+ MC's off of my short list. Entertain us, with 100+ bars of Nas's bitten from Biggie or any other rapper. Simpleton.

U right i dont get you. What bait dumbfuck you put the nigga on your list and u got caught. The funny part is i'm not disputing that Jay didn't do it, i'm disputing that Nas did it also but since its not as much as Jay, he gets a pass???? Complex Idiot!!!!

Do people still not get that these 2 were actual friends. So if anything, Jay is keeping BIGs legacy alive by quoting his lines in his songs.

Half of yall wouldnt even know BIG because yall are youngn's or you wouldve forgot about BIG if rappers didn't quote his lines.

To quote somebody is paying respect. I dont know where yall from.

Bolded and Underlined for Emphasis........

Why must cats feelings be hurt in order to discuss a topic? I find myself in many high level meetings and not agreeing with others. Yet I find it easy to walk out and move on with life and do my job. I could careless where other rappers are in their lives and career. So, what you charge others with is, actually your own shortcomings. Otherwise where Jayz is, in his life and career wouldn't matter to you but it does. Oh the irony? Hip Hop didn't need Jayz in 1996 and certainly doesn't need him in 2010. Hip Hop has always been alive and well. It's Pop Music and Suburban wannabe's that need Jayz and his all access brand of Hip Hop.

If anyone else borrows lines that arent well known then its wack too, jay-z by a large margin does it more then any other rapper.

Im not singling out jay-z but i keep referring to him because this thread is about him and also because he is the king when it comes to using other peoples lines

it doesnt take away from his legacy in my mind he has classic albums that cant be refuted. But on the flipside of things if your a fan of hip hop i dont see how you can let this massive ammount of biting pass just cuz other rappers do it.

its wack when ANY rapper does it

kingofdetroit, from Jay-Z solo enterance till now is how many years ? 14 years right. That was Cube in 2004. That was LL in 2000.They came out 8 years and 12 years respectiviely ahead of Jay-Z. Pac, Big and Pun passed away so how are you gonna use them as examples ? Please, don't act like every artist came out at the same time. Now if he's your GOAT, so be it but we don't compare Muhammad Ali to Tyson of the 90's.

What's even more hysterical is, I addressed this issue of biting in an earlier post but you helmet wearing simpletons half read posts then, comment. I clearly said biting makes any MC a suspect. Any would include Nas. You THOUGHT you had a slam dunk when your faggot radar quickly found Nas's name in my post. So, yes your simple ass took the bait. You couldn't resist.

What is the big fuckin' deal with it? I mean nigga's cant show love for nigga's they thought was talented? Y'all act like ANY of these rappers are straight up stealing nigga's material and passin' it off as their own. This ain't just about Jay-Z, this is about biting in general for you, but nigga's don't have one solid case of any of these nigga's biting a song and passing it off as their own....

EXCEPT...

Lil' Wayne, this nigga actually took a whole Aaliyah verse...WORD FOR WORD and rapped it actually trying to pass it off as his own shit, this shit slipped under the radar. To be fair to JAY-Z, please disregard all the other "references" and listen to the Aaliyah and Musiq portion. Niggas talk about all the "biting" Jay-Z does amounts to a whole verse, well what if a nigga "BIT" a whole verse and a bridge from R&B singers? Jay-Z can't be the one doing most of the "SO CALLED BITING", he even gave Biggie credit. Wayne is so rude as to put his shit on mixtapes as to avoid paying dues.

I'm sayin' them niggas u naming haven't been a relevance in hip hop since the 90's, they were just putting out music, the music wasn't doing anything for Hip Hop tho because everyone stopped listening to them with the exception of a few die hard fans, they weren't moving units this century.

Is it really discussing topics when there is not one drop of objectivity involve, we all agree he has used other rappers lines but the way niggas talk they act like those lines are more than 1% of his total discography. LOL at shortcomings, a rappers relevance is completely relevant to the topic of a hiphop discussion. Hiphop does need people like Jay,Wayne,Em,etc because they are the forefront of this rap shit and if you haven't notice this, the artform is damn sure lacking superstar rappers who can transcent the genre. LOL at Pop musc and suburban wannabe's, i'm guessing your one of those limited ass niggas who seem to think hiphop is only the streets and ghetto huh, only if your vision is that short. Hiphop has gone all the way around the world and has transcended the race, class, etc barrier. It's bigger than your narrow view!

No need to go back forth with your superior. Chump! I gave you list of MC's who by the way kill Jayz and your simple ass jumped right on the MC I knew you would. Know own up to the fact that your POP loving ass, didn't even know 1/4 of the MC's on my list so, all you could do was attempt to point out NAS who doesn't have anywhere near 100+ bars of another MC's material through out his music. Now sign off homegirl

When did you start listening to Hip Hop ? All of them I mentioned was relevant in the 90's !! What were you doing or better yet, how old were you in 1996, the year of Jay-Z debut ? All of them were Platinum artists whether you fucked with them or not.

We talking about 14 years and 11 No. 1 Platinum (+) albums, say that if you gonna say it, then tell me the other vet putting up them numbers that isn't dead. Even Jay-Z's worst has sold well.

'96? I was about 11-12 listening to Bone, Busta Rhymes and shit. I didn't say they didn't sell in the 90's, I said that's the last time they were ever relevent and mid 90's at that, not late 90's, they have not beeen relevent this century tho (21st century, ya know 2000 and beyond) Oh and I definitely fucked with Cube growing up, but I know the last time Cube ever had a "real" hit was the Players Club soundtrack, but that shit don't even count in my eyes because that wasn't his album.

I get what he's sayin though. Where other rappers have reached a certain point where the weren't as relevant anymore. Jay-Z is 40 and his music still is debated among the best. A lot of niggas think Rakim is one of the best of all time but if he brings out an album now, it may not sell 100,000 copies. What he saying is that because this has happened, rappers like Kanye, Wayne, hell Soulja Boy if they want to can rap past 40 and not be considered too old to rap. All the other music genres have artists that perform well past their 40's. BB King still tours and he's 80!!! Why should you stop being a rapper or a supporter past 40??

If you're talking about the amount of albums he dropped in that period, well he had too !! Who else was gonna hold the Roc down ? He was their cash cow. Other emcees can chill for a couple years doing other things like movies and tv shows. That's evident. That wasn't my argument though. Selling cd's is whatever, I'm talking about a Career and there's too many emcees that has been passed the 14 year mark, putting out consistent music and still is doing well with theirs like I said, whether you want to fuck with them or not.

You can look at the numbers that way if, you choose. However, I choose to be objectively look at the Fact of 100+ lines of other MC's material is overboard. In my objective opinion a Hip Hop artist shouldn't get a pass for this. I disagree that a rappers relevance matters as what is relevant to one person isn't relevant to another. So, that should never factor into the equation. Not mention that we all know that an artists skill has nothing to do with his/her relevance. Again we don't need these fake ass niggas to transcend anything. Hip Hop was fine when it was in Mom and Pop stores, in the crates, at house parties, and on college radio. I'd suggest you stop guessing homey. I don't care where Hip Hop has landed as long as it stays Hip Hop that is creative, organic, progressive and enlightening. My view is far from narrow. Your view could be interpreted as narrow since you believe Hip Hop is, in need of Pop Starts, who appear on MTV cribs and Oprah as, if, that has some baring on the quality of the music.
