If they are on the same level of lyricism and Willie D makes more enjoyable music while still providing a message, there is nothing wrong with saying Willie D >>>> Chuck D. Only think Chuck D had over him is being the forefront of a legendary group as where Willie was the 2nd option.

Think about what you just said....

So you saying Public Enemy never made enjoyable music while providing a message?

Two different groups with two different agendas in music.

Yeah..Public Enemy's music was rooted in Islam/5 Percenter/Black power unity/militant and Geto Boys was rooted more in everyday hood life so I see why you would say that, but P.E's music was for the hood/ghettos though because that's where most of the problems were centralized at.

Would you believe P.E. and Geto Boys stood for the same thing?

That IS the real reason. Plus you got a few NY'ers, from my POV still on a high horse and they do it just for that, while behind the computer screen laughing their ass off.

The majority of Southerners know that example comparison you used is not true (hopefully), but they'll do it just to piss off certain people. Sometimes it's funny and sometimes it's not because some are doing it out of emotion and hate because the South has been getting shitted on since the late 80's.

real shyt...you kinda notice things when you read posts......emotions and shyt stand out at times.....sometimes i'm like i dont kno what you been thru in terms of your region being shytted on but since its just music shouldnt it be easy to brush off?.....i dont kno none of these rap cats so shyt on them all you want, we can debate but im not takin this shyt so seriously....

Its no reasoning with rap fans from the eastcoast. They like what they like and they expect every one else to like it too even though CULTURALLY my backyard looks nothing like their backyard. They'll mock every other region for their damage to hiphop but never once except a bit of responsibility for the role they themselves have played in the downfall of this culture.

The eastcoast created this thing called hiphop. Yet hardly any of them own any real part of it....... basically they had already given the culture away before any other coast had a chance to damage it. The eastcoast doesn't make good hiphop anymore unless they are collaborating with artists from the other regions. Eastcoast fans are stuck in a time warp because most of the emcees coming from up there are wack and try to hang on to the "lyrical" argument because they know they lack the CHARISMA and TECHNICAL ability that the REAL LEGENDS from up north used to have.

THE EASTCOAST IS WHATS WRONG WITH HIPHOP TODAY.

I grew up in the 80's and 90's Hip Hop and yeah the South was constantly getting shitted and it was mainly because of the bass movement in Miami from 2 Live Crew. Nobody couldn't really get on that genre because it was more about the chants, bass and females shaking ass and simple rhyming. The music was really focused for the clubs, having a good time and for the females, even though we had raw emcees like Geto Boys/Scarface, D.O.C. (he's from the South) and Underground Kingz. Then more lyrically deep artists like Outkast/Dungeon Family, Ludacris, T.I.,K-Rino, Eightball and MJG/Suave House, off the dome freestylers like Screwed Up Click come through later in years with Face and U.G.K still in tow, we figured we get more respect because the focus was on lyrics now, but somehow we were still catch the flack and hate...

The funny about it today, the same type of music that was getting shitted on back then has came back around with the updated sound and lyrics is running the mainstream...so go figure. But I grew up listening to East Coast music and got my foundation from that so it's all respect, but I know how it goes on here.

You from the same state I'm from..and I know Gucci is Alabama born and bred...but I CANNOT absolutely ride with that. PERIOD. Fuck that.

Honestly, I don't think Cube sucks but he's overrated in my opinion. He did a lot for the game but I don't enjoy him outside of Today Was A Good Day, Friday, etc.

I avoid his music. Different opinons but I don't think Gucci is a hot rapper by any means, but I enjoy the music. Ya feel me?

Let me start off with this, where is all this south versus everybody shit coming from?

2nd I fuck wit Nore very heavily, one of my favorite NY rappers.

3rd we don't give a fuck about what yall eastcoast niggas got to say say about our rappers.

4th eastcoast niggas need to learn that there is more than one type of hip hop neither being right or wrong, we can not survive without either one, just like there is more than one type of rock music, in other words comparing a southern rapper of any status to a ny rapper of any status, is like comparing Metallica to Poison which = No.

Heavy/Thrash metal

Glam metal

They're turning it into a joke because of their insecurities. The main objective is to get ppl to understand why someone would prefer rapper A over rapper B.

Ross>>>>>Biggie

Big Boi>>>>>Method Man

TI>>>>>Snoop

^^^^^^^^^^

Throw any of those arguments around in the Reason and chances are you'll get responses like

"GTFO with that bullshit"

"This is why hiphop is a joke now"

"This is why I don't post in the Reason anymore"

"Your hiphop opinion is invalid"

"You think rapper A is better than rapper B.......fuck your opinion on hiphop"

Etc etc etc. The convo on this and every other hiphop site is becoming stale because everybody pretty much only cosigns the same rappers. I guess you can call it their "opinions", it's just funny that they all think the same way. My homeboys all have vastly different opinions on who they like best, and it leads to some very interesting debates.
