On paper its a good move. I get what the Pelicans are trying to do. You cant beat the Warriors playing their style. Only way to potentially beat the warriors is to run two bigs out there and beat them in the post and out rebound them. Not saying Pelicans are gonna beat the warriors now but just saying that I can see why they wanna go with a core of 2 mobile big men. Now all they need to do is add a bunch of 3 and D guys and keep holiday.

Issue is that moves that look good on paper usually dont play out well. I love boogie but dude is a knuckle head. Not sure if hes gonna be down to change his game to fit in. AD is gonna have to change his game too but I think hes gonna be more willing. Their skill sets actually fit in well. They can both shoot the midrange, dabble in the 3, so their spacing wont be too terrible, wont be great though.

I think this is gonna really be based on how much Cousins and AD really want to make it work. We always hear good things about AD so i dont know if dude is really selfish behind closed doors and we all know what Cousins is like. Should be interesting to see.

Agreed, especially bolded if they really want it they can anchor a top 5-10 defense right out the gate, I think they been losing long enough and the friendship/respect is there that they will be willing to sacrifice stats to make it work, they don't have a ton of talent around them now but I think they could make it a physical series with the scrappy players they do have and expose the Warriors weaknesses, I don't expect them to be a contender right away but they should get some results going into the offseason

The Pels are already pretty good in defense. Their problem is scoring.

Seeing who won in this thing is going to be 5 years from now.

i almost hate to have these types of conversations, but its clear the pels "won" the deal, at least for now, however, they still have work to do with trying to surround the Jrue, AD, and Boogie with quality players. I liked how Hill was playing prior to AS break, Moore has been solid as well. Kinda wish they would've kept Galloway, but i understand he was certainly expendable.

also, clearly, both of these teams are obviously headed in two diff directions, so its kinda hard to evaluate the deal using that as a criteria imo

I'm cool with becoming the more athletic version of the Memphis Grizzlies, long as we dominate teams in the post and on the boards, I'm pretty sure AD wouldn't have a problem with letting DeMarcus be the primary scoring option while he focus on the defense end, that's how everybody saw him as when he came out of Kentucky, nobody knew then that he would be this good offensively.

That's some smear shit but I peeped it when they played us and collison and he said something along the lines of everyone got back on defense
