wtf do you expect do these teams have adhd? it takes more than 2 years to become a contender from being a bottom of the barrel team... now if he was on his 3rd or 4th year then I'd see but 2? smh.. these teams don't care about winning... who the fuck they think is going to bring that team to a playoff spot next year?

Calvin Johnson to retire?

According to the Detroit Free Press, "several people who know" Calvin Johnson think he could retire this offseason.

All that wear and tear has caused Johnson to contemplate his future. He has mentioned the subject of retirement to at least one former teammate.

"There has been some conversations about it, not asking me how it is," said one former teammate. "But I think the guy's beat up. I think he's been through enough. And I think it's just his time. I don't know for sure if he's going to do it."

Longtime Detroit radio host Terry Foster wrote in a column on The Ticket's website Tuesday that he thinks Johnson could walk away from the game, and several people who know the Pro Bowl receiver agree that it's not a far-fetched scenario.

Y'all are mad at this firing because you don't know what's going on in Tampa. So let me explain why this firing is A OK.

OFFENSE - Dirk Koetter came in and made us a very productive offense. He's great at what he does...ask Falcons fans. We were looking at losing him because of how good he is. Other teams were considering him for HC. So you wanted us to lose him, and make Jameis learn a new offense? 2 offenses in his first 2 years in the league. Does that usually work out? Is that what you want your franchise QB to do? Lose a great offensive coordinator AND have to learn a new offense?

DEFENSE - Lovie chose Ari Frazier for our DC. He did a terrible job. So bad that Lovie took over defensive play calling duties. Even after that we gave up 26 points a game, and had the 3rd worse red zone defense in the league. He's a defense minded coach, that chose a bad DC, and is running a bad defense.

DISCIPLINE - Why the fuck did we tie for the most penalties in the league?

Bottom line. Our defense was shit, and we don't want to lose Koetter. Lovie had to go.

Lovie deserved 1 more year at least, Saints are done, Falcons cant get right.....next year was the year Bucs could have seriously challenged for wildcard spot and maybe even Carolina

Doubt that their defense was fucked up pretty much I think the falcons will get it right next season and be more consistent

this Lovie Smith situation is bullshit breh

Naw, it's a smart move. Dirk Koetter leaving is a huge part of it. You saw what happened to the Falcons offense this year compared to last year? Last year they had Dirk Koetter. As soon as I saw other teams wanting to interview him, I said I hope we fire Lovie to keep him.

People who think it's racist think about the situation more in depth. If we keep Lovie, then we lose Koetter. So now black Jameis has to learn a new offense each of his first 2 years in the league which usually ends up poorly. And the new OC he gets will likely be less talented than Koetter. So we'd likely end up doing bad again next year (which is the 1 more year you think Lovie deserved), so he'd get fired anyway. Which probably means they clean house, and Jameis is now learning a new offense AGAIN in his third season, and not comfortable with it until his 4th. That fucked up development, AND Lovie being fired is what you wanted?

Oh also, the Bucs weren't much better this year to be honest (except offensively). Don't let the record fool you too much. Last year we played the AFC North, and NFC North. This year we played the NFC East and AFC South.

Be real if you could pick any 2 divisions in football to go against this season, it'd be those 2. The Bucs went 3-5 against them. We blew a 24 point (I think) lead vs the Redskins. We finished last in the division again.

We had a defensive coach, that coached a bad and underperforming defense. Again we were 3rd worst in the red zone. We gave up 26 points/game. QUARTERBACKS COMPLETED LITERALLY 70% OF THEIR PASSES AGAINST US. Look back at the fuckin teams I said we played, and explain to me why that group of QB's completed 70% of their damn passes. We knew what we had in Lovie, and he wasn't gonna improve us, and our defense won't be any worse with him gone. Our offense would be worse with Dirk Koetter gone.

Smh....Coach Kutty

Never know what you got until it's gone and you end up with a Shannahan.

I still think Lovie should've got one more year to rebuild that defense.

Saints defense broke the record for allowing the most passing TD in a season. They also at one point was having rookie and second tier QBs put gaudy numbers against them. DC got fired and HC got extension.

Your Defensive problem aint got shit to do with his firing.

Lovie Smith took a offensive challenged Bears to the Super Bowl and had them consistently above .500. Either they had a fallout they nobody knows about or they have someone in line. But firing a coach with history for a OC with no experience is not winning football.
