Perhaps most importantly for the uninitiated is the extra time procedure. Until the final, games in the knockout stage of the competition will go straight to penalty kicks after 90 minutes. In the final, teams will play two 15-minute periods before heading to penalties.

Tiebreakers will first be decided on goal difference, which is the number of goals a team scores subtracted by the number they allow. The second tiebreaker will be is goals scored. The third will be head-to-head results. And if still tied then lots will be drawn.

If a player receives two separate yellow cards through the group stage or the quarterfinals he will be suspended for the following game. Yellow cards, however, will be wiped clean after the quarterfinal stage and any remaining yellow cards will not carry over.

The tournament will consist of 16 teams divided into four groups of four. Teams will play one game against each group opponent. The teams who finish in the top two places will then go on to the quarterfinal stage, which is single elimination

2 Steps peep Manchester United's history on Wiki and the choice will be easy

its alot of expats where i am that are from the uk and they are mostly MU fans and some other club i cant think of right now

Word where you from, What's your NBA, NFL teams

from philly but in switzerland

Cool Cool. FC Basal has beaten quite a few English teams, most recent being Liverpool I think. If you're looking for a team with a Swiss connection then Arsenal and Stoke City both play in red and white and have a Swiss player.

Stoke City is ok, the Gooners are the far better team, but choosing Arsenal will leave you feeling like Kevin Durant of OKC Thunder for the whole time you support them.

FC basel games are crazy....

my wife gets free tix to them but i keep missing them.

i been to one i think they played the young boys

it was a good game they set a fire an i was in the nose bleed seats lit.....not know what i was looking at be they was hyped

Basel play in what's called the Champions League. The league winners of each country in Europe compete in a qualification the group stage then knock out competition. Starts in Sept so make sure you see those games. They're at night and everyone looks forward to them.

Tbh, if you want a team that's got drama, history, excitement and the opportunity to won sutten, I'd go with Liverpool. They seem to attract noobs for some reason. Watch their Champions League final win of 05 on YouTube

Classy Utd fan here!

so what teams are good but overrated...

an honest question.....are defenses important or is it more about chance

Football is all about skill, luck and bullshit. Luck being offside goals being given, shots hitting the bar, insane saves etc. Bullshit being referees not sending players off for certain situations. Or them giving bullshit calls, anyway classic example is the fuck boy ref in the Europa league final we just had (Liverpool vs Sevilla).

Defence is very important. It's very difficult to score from open play against a good defence, which is how Atletico Madrid managed to get to the CL final with mostly average players.

Can't really be overrated in football. These teams are 100 plus years old so sometimes they're on top and other times they're not doin' so well. The best teams in the world have the best players and win the Champions League and their country's trophies

Griezemann, Saul, Koke, Juanfran, Gimeniz, Godin, Oblak, Filipe Luis, Carrasco are average?

Saul and Carrasco, there's crazy potential but who knows innit

Griezmann and Koke and Godin are dope.

Everyone else, Filipe Luis in particular, they aren't spectatcular players man. Average a bit strong but in relation to their opponents, Barca and Madrid, I don't think its inappropriate

@2stepz_ahead do you have a favorite player or two?

nope not yet.

my neighbor played for FC Basel but i dont think hes my favorite...

im still learning what makes a player good

You gotta team? Pick one from England bruh the Premier League is a reality show fam craziness every week

yea, for the moment FC inter.

only because we was at the same hotel in milan before they played AC milan

Real rap, fuck inter Milan. @figo , yeah I said it. I saw that you picked that team but you're obviously not sure. Serie A is a boring ass league.

If you're picking an English team, you can't go wrong with Arsenal. You can sign up on Arsenal.com for free and check out some of their games from this season. Or you could always check out some of their highlight videos of the season on YouTube. The red & white of Arsenal will be glad to have you join the goon squad.

Inter Milan FC, dont forget the FC.

Yea I know we got nutmeged to death but you know how goals can change games. If the Ref even gave us one handball call it could have been a totally different outcome. That first half should've deaded everything but it is what it is. Better team won like you said.

Too many gooners and Utd fans in here already. But don't be a Tottenham fan whatever you do @2stepz. We have a shockingly arrogant fan in here of them which is weird because they hardly know what a trophy looks like... Haha

Come on G the current Utd team is wack. How many of them get into Barca or Bayern.

Average was def a bit strong but it was to make the point to the rookie cut me some slack

with jose mourinho at the technical director postion, i can see him using a couple of those same players to win the league. i think those players is way above average. they are proven champions league talent.

Ey 2Steps watch these videos

If you ever wondered what Beckham was about, pure skill

This was our LEGENDARY Treble winnin' season of 99

The Premier League, The FA Cup (the oldest sports competition still runnin'. WE beat Arsenal in the semi to get to the Final) and the Champions League. We spent almost the whole game 1-0 down but literally in the last 2 minutes we scored 2 against the mighty Bayern Munich to win it

They'd fall way off if Simeone left though man they aren't top players aside from 3/4
