Mexico to leave 'Chicharito' on bench

El Tri coach Miguel Herrera will leave forward Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez on the bench for their first World Cup game against Cameroon on Friday, while he is scheduled to play start Guillermo Ochoa in goal, a source told ESPN Deportes.

Ochoa, former goalkeeper for Ajaccio, is set to debut vs. Cameroon, while Giovani dos Santos and Oribe Peralta are likely to get Herrera's nod at forward.

Hernandez called Cameroon an improved team and said he anticipated they would be a tough rival. He added that he is ready for whatever role Herrera gives him.

"The thing is, I don't feel myself to be a starting player but as well I don't feel like to be a substitute," Hernandez told ESPN's John Sutcliffe. "I am a player that shows that he wants to play as many minutes as possible and that this player has a lot of hunger to be here."

I get this but it would make no sense to get Reus given that they play in false 9 with neymar on the left and messi in the middle. How would he fit unless Neymar is moved to the right.

Absolutely agree. The worst part is that even if they do fit him, Reus is a traditional winger suited to a more direct attacking style of play. Turning him to a support role for Messi for their pass pass game is a waste of his talents.

He's just missing that final touch that he had when he first went to United. His movement off the ball still creates alot of chances for mexico fuckin ball just won't go in. And yeah moves just insisted on giving welbeck minutes despite him not really doing anything to deserve them.
