The SEC isn't that far ahead of the rest of the nation when it comes to speed on the perimeter. There isn't a significant difference between a CB in the SEC and a CB in the Big 10. Where the SEC is noticeably faster is in the front seven, specifically the dline. Hence the reason Masolli didn't run wild....if you look at all the SEC teams that won the chip the past six years....all of them dominated their opponent up front........so, with that being said......Duron should be fine he was talented enough to get significant playing time as a freshman at Ohio St. I don't think Saban would of accepted him if he didn't think he wouldn't be able to step in that void Julio left.
Pretty much... the speed at the skill postiions is pretty much has equaled to that of the SEC ... its the defensive lines of the SEC thats faster and quicker than the offensive lineman of the other conferences... which is the main difference. I say the speed of Oregon at the WR, RB, Defensive Backs etc was faster and quicker than Auburns...but there offensive line coulndt keep up with the dline of Auburn..
