The Last Days Of The Roc Pt 10:Dame Dash Discovers Jay-Z Is Making Moves W/ Def Jam

Ummm....some shyt don't sound right to me. I mean what went down between CK and Jay back in the day don't affect our lives at all. But from all the information gathered here, Calvin Klein stated and I quote, Jay said to him "Oh, I got you" when he got realeased and came home. He met with Jay once, then after that, he met with Ty Ty from then on. Then still nothing transpired after those meetings. No position nowhere, no legit connections....nothing. Akon turned Calvin Klein legit, which was a blessing for CK. Akon looked out for real.

Now rewind back in the day when Jay was gonna' get pinched for attempted murder while connected with CK. CK does all he can to separate Jay from the attempted murder charge, and it also costs him $50,000 to give Jay a clean slate.

Now background stories to a lot of these artists are real interesting as we all here know. But I'mma compare a couple situations here.

Guru of Gangstarr back in the day ran with a man name Big Shug. Guru and Big Shug was hustling together to get dough for studio time and making demos. They formed Gangstarr together. But in the midst of gettin' money, Guru dipped out on Big Shug during a robbery and Shug didn't snitch and got pinched for it. After Shug came home, Guru and Primo broke off Shug crazy paper, put him back down with the Gangstarr Foundation and gave him guest spots on the album even though he wasn't signed to the record label as a contractual artist. They made good.

We all know Bigs story. Big caught slippin' in the street with heat and tosses it. Big and his manz D-Roc get swooped for the gun charge. It's Bigs gun right, but D-Roc takes the gun charge for Big to do good and give him a clean slate. When D-Roc got released and came home, Big had D-Roc right there with him everywhere he went. Put his manz on.

I'm not trying to say who's right or who's wrong, but shyt just seem a lil' fishy here. Something don't smell right. But if I come home and the second phone call I get is from Jay, it's obvious I did something for that man that he'll never forget. Then he tells me, "Oh, I got you" and nothing comes about it. I'd feel a certain way too. Even though CK is making a way for himself. He never asked anyone for money. He just wanted to be legit. That's just my thoughts on how I feel about it.

but it was klien charge so i respect he took it like a man kept it 100, most men wouldnt do that. like he said he got out not expectin anything from jay, but jay called him and told him he was gon hold him down, but he aint keep his word, he shouldnt have never told him that if he aint truely mean it, or he should have told him why he changed his mind.

it a crazy thing bout jay, it seems if he has a problem wit his friends, he dont seem to want to take it head on, he just cuts the person off, without them knwing wat he was mad about

Yeah. I dont think Jay's problem was that Dame was an asshole ...it's that he didnt know when to stop being 1. On the come up he had to be an asshole b/c being an NY artist in the mid 90's was hard w/ all the competition & how record execs would treat u coming from the street... but once Jay sold 5 mil, Roc-A-Wear sold $80M, movies, liquors, etc. ur point was proved. U prove4d ur not dumb & that ur a force to be reckoned w/ in the industry so why keep doing the same shit w/ lil progress & results. Jay was 1 of Def Jam's biggest artist, I'm sure they woulda gave dude whatever he wanted to appease him.

To use a sports analogy:

If you've ever played a team sport (say basketball) there is always that 1 hot headed nigga who cant control his emotions. The dude from the other team who he's matched up against knows this and does shit like elbow him in the rib cage & pinch him when the refs not looking hoping he'll pick up a tech or talk about his mom, sister, or gf hoping he gets mad. Eventually he gets upset & turns it into a 1-on-1 game & starts forcing up dumb shots & turning the ball over...well Dame is that nigga LOL. Eventually the other players on the team (Jay) start looking @ the coach like "this niggas fucking up, take him out!!!" or they just stop passing him the ball.
