KOROIT (rugby) playing coach Chris McLaren’s season is over.
The popular Saints leader will today undergo clean up knee surgery in Melbourne before reconstructive surgery at a later date.
The 32-year-old was yesterday told by leading orthopaedic surgeon Sam Patten that he had torn his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) off the bone.
McLaren, who had feared the worst, was shattered with the diagnosis.
“I just love playing football,” he said.
“I don’t like doing a hamstring and missing two or three weeks let alone missing 12 months.”
McLaren said he had not given any thought to his playing future, saying his priority was to get his knee repaired. His immediate concerns were his ability to run his floor sanding and concrete polishing business and coaching the club, which made a bright start to the season, winning its first three matches.
