First of all I'd like to say hi as it's my first post. In my opinion we can easily call RD and BP1 classics as the influence and impact on the whole industry was huge. I'd call AG and BA classics, especially AG for its concept. Vol. 1 kicked asses also. That would be it for him. But as i'm his psycho fan, to me all his albums are classics. Cheers.

Why isn't AG a classic? It has all the qualities of a classic, what exactly is it missing?

most niggas will say AG was the best album of 07

maybe Graduation and The Cool were better but not many classics that year except from Jays and Ye

niggas wanted dude to fall off cuz of KC but dude bounced bacc

Blueprint, Reasonable Doubt, Hard Knock, and Black Album are classics hands down. U can argue In My Lifetime and American Gangster are classics also. With the rest being very good damn albums IMO

Reasonable Doubt and Blueprint are his 5 mic classics. 5 mics = Classic with the exception of the last two albums to recieve it. Thats not up for debate. The impact of Bleuprint is similar to a Chronic or Doggystyle in terms of how it changed the sound. Black Album was near it, and Volume 1 and AG are very solid as well.

so its RD and BP. BP was undeniable the most influential albums of the last decade. Blueprint impact was 100x that of RD.

To me....i would say 1.... Vol 2.....man i thought Blueprint was classic....... i went brought that shit out the store for like 22 dollars.... this was around x-mas.....and i brought that dmx....its dark and hell is hot..... and man i was tryna ride and bang out to those cd's.......but they only had like 2-3 songs that really were tight songs to me....

I just knew that DMX was going to do it.....but no..... but songs just aint feel like 99.....i guess i had a walkman then.....but the Jay-Z was so much of a let down....

because when it came out i ran that shit for like 3-4 months straights.......but this time around.....joints i liked seemed so boring...... (Neva Change).... just horrible

Heart of the City......garbage.....(All I Need) that shit still blaze..... (Momma Love Me and Lyrical Exercise).... awesome...the Intro bananas.... everything else...

no replay.....

Vol 2...... go off top to bottom...crazy features

Jayz has 0 Classic albums. The closest he's come to an actual Hip Hop album is RD and it's nothing but a poor man's Illmatic/OBFCL/RTD. The rest of his albums are commercial Hip Pop subpar weed plates.

Production on RD? And then lack of realness in subsequent albums? (this is just what I'm speculating could be mentioned as a knock on Jay-Z's albums)

So whats Reasonable Doubt missing?

Everything!! Jayz took the same Prouction formula Nas did with Illmatic by using similar producers and sounds, he took the subject matter of OBFCL and mixed in the commercial appeal of RTD. Jayz was never original and has shown this since his debut album RD. He even bit the Name of a popular movie for it's title.
