Jay the GOAT.Anyone who disagrees is lying.never had to get shot, piggie back on a already popular artist, did not need a bunch of guest spots or a gimmick and beef to sell like so many other rappers.Had the longest reign of being relevant and has the most classic albums out of any rapper.

Jay indeed is a GOAT

however obviously ur clueless about ur idol or just a stan with a forgettable memory

Lets time i checked BIGGY SMALLS (popular rapper) was on Jays debut album and video to help promote him and also on LAD

His gimmick was crack sellin hustler, we all know he never was deep in it like that

FACT is most rappers need someone to co sign them, or put them on, and a gimmick, i.e a selling point even Uncle Jay

The Beef with Nas did help his career even though he lost, everybody was a winner at the end.

Think before u type stan

Another Debate is Who came better, KanYe or Just Blaze:

KanYe

Never Change
Heart of the City
IZZO
Takeover

Just Blaze
Girls, Girls, Girls
You Don't Know
Song Cry

Hmmm........"Heart of the City" is so tough, KanYe was on some spirital ish with that. But "You Don't Know" pumps so hard, even Rza said he wished he produced that beat. I'd go with Ye, but "You don't Know" is something crazy:

That's a hard question. It might be a tie for me once "Lyrical Exercise" is thrown in. "Heart of the City" and "You Don't Know" are my two favorite songs from the album and two my favorite Jay Z songs period.

So young, my big sis still playing with barbies

Young brother, big city, 8 million stories

Old heads taught me, yungin, walk softly

Carry a big stick...that'll get niggas off me

Keep coke and coffee, keep money smelling mothly

Chains is cool to cop but, more important is lawyer fees

Thats how it is now (ugh), thats how it always be (ugh)

I never change, this was always me

From the womb to the tomb, from now until my doom

Drink army from one cup, pass it around the room

Thats the ritual, big cam, I won't forget you fool and all the bullshit we tried to get through

This is crew love, move music or move drugs, rival crews get your black suits up

I NEVER CHANGE!!!!

Never Change is one of the illest songs I ever heard but, Song Cry is timeless to me.

Clark Kent (producer of the track) also stated Big wanted the track for himself, but Clark had already given it to Jay so Big hopped on it. Supposedly a bond was born so there goes the return with a feature on LAD. He did want Nas on his first album though.

This album is not even close to 5 mics FOH

I don't see how, again it passes every threshold for Classic Status. It's clearly Jay's best album since "Reasonable Doubt", it definitely help to further the careers of Ye and Blaze. Jay also went in strong, the songs were amazing on this record. Of course every Jay album has some average cuts, as I said, "Hova Holito" wasn't a great track. But overall there is way to much heat to deny this album.

I liked this album and this shit is classic but Scarface's The Fix is shitty on this Blueprint.

The Fix>>>>>The Blueprint.

what's the point of even mentioning that in this thread? It has nothing to do with "this album isn't better than...."

We know all this, my point still stands..... Having BIGGY co sign you and on ur album and then a feature (as well as a video appearance) on his album was a great look for any debut artist..Thus Jay like many of the peers before him and after him had someone opens doors, which isnt even a diss, just the facts.

Also BIGGY dropped one of his most memorable lines on Jays debut.
