Jay really is a hustler, and thats something that he brags about and something that needs to be appreciated....

Just like he was the first one to call his album a classic and how it was ahead of his time (Reasonable Doubt), and then everyone else followed suit, because no one was callin it a classic until he did, this was around when he was givin interviews in his peak, when the black album was out and how he was goin to retire and it was his last album, and that was a great album, i would say a classic even, which def helped his hustle, and increased his credibility that he used to keep goin on about RD being slept on an blah blah blah, which finally caught on, moving on...

Just like he was the one that started those comparisons with Big and bout bein the same as or even better than big and if not, how he the closest one, after big's death, that was supposed to be his man...smh...he's the one that starts this kinda shyt, and niggaz eat it up, its like someone that plants that seed in ya head that wasn't there and then it just grows and grows out of control, thats a way of looking at jay's whole career and luckily for him that shyt worked.

*Salutes* A true hustler you are jay.

Lol at Toure acting like its a Lupe verse, this shit don't need to be broken down this dude just be stating the obvious.

Look at his breakdown for this line.

'i'm Half man Half Camel'

Well jay is saying that he is the master of the drought, as camels can go a long time without no water, the same way Jay Z can still move drugs in a drought period, also Jay is replying to his critics who call him a camel, and by calling himself a mammal and camel he is implying he is both human and animal.

Of course literally speaking the line doesn't make sense as camels are mammals as well, bujt you see thats whats essentially great about a rapper like Jay, he don't always need to make sense to make sense(cents get it), he truly is the God mc.

Ma Gawwwd! Jay really did say:
Now these n-gga’s is mad, oh they call me a Camel
But I mastered the drought, what the fuck i’m an animal
Half-man half-mammal

I always thought it was a joke line peeps used to piss off Jigga stans cos Nas had that line "half man, half amazin", but I just now listened to Already Home for the first time lol

2pac was homeless Eminem was homeless

2pac grew up on Welfare Eminem grew up on Welfare

2pac caught a case involving Gun's Eminem caught a case involving Gun's

2pac got shot Eminem got shot

Like lesbi-honest this nigga hustled this rap shit without hesitation and did whatever it took to become number 1 - argue all day about how long he was on top, if he ever was, will he ever sell a million first week etc.

He knew rap was about hit records, knew he wanted to be on the other side of that desk helping artist (or not helping in his case lol) but did it.

I came across this on youtube and well quite insightful, food for thought.

After bringing your the Classic "Life After Death" Birthday thread, I give another anniversary thread. That's right as we approach the 10th Anniversary of 9/11, it was also the Day Jay dropped his 2nd Classic Album "The BLUEprint". Despite the towers going down, the album still managed to Debut at #1. Outside of "Reasonable Doubt" it's clearly Jay's most Critically Acclaimed album. It spawned 2 Sequels that were both very successful. "The BLUEprint" is widely recognized as boosting the careers of KanYe West and Just Blaze who gave Jay some of the best productions of their careers. As Well as popularizing soul samples again that were made famous by some of the Classic records produced by RZA and Premo. Not to mention this album had "Takeover" which threw gasoline one of the biggest battles in Hip Hip History as Jay took on NaS. It saw Eminem rip it as the only collabo on the album. 10 years later the album aged like fine wine and is clearly one of Jay's best album. It passes every threshold for Classic Status:

Critically Acclaimed
Classic Songs
Sales and Impact
Influence (Soul Samples)

Here is my song by song Break down

The Rulers Back - 4 MICS
Takeover - 5 MICS
IZZO (H.O.V.A.) - 5 MICS
Girls, Girls, Girls - 5 MICS
Jigga That Nigga - 3.5 MICS
U Don't Know - 5 MICS
Hova Holito - 3.5 MICS (One of the weakest Jay and Timbo collabos)
Heart of the City (Ain't No Love) - 5 MICS
Never Change - 5 MICS
Song Cry - 5 MICS
All I Need - 5 MICS
Renegade - 5 MICS
Blueprint (Momma Loves Me) - 4 MICS

The Craziest thing was this was Jay's 6th LP. Who drops a Classic on their 6 album? that's wild. Salute to one of the greatest rap albums of all time.

I liked this album and this shit is classic but Scarface's The Fix is shitty on this Blueprint.

The Fix>>>>>The Blueprint.

Couldn't agree more with the review.

Jay went in on this album, too many quotables and the 'U Don't Know' track was fire - showed his mindset.

Without this album, KanYe's career does not go where it did.

Jay Z featuring KanYe West - Never Change

yeah Jay-Z has been claimed to be grimy as fuck - 'never trust grimy ass new yorkers'

I guess you can never reach success without treading on a few people which is understandable but those closest to you who are considered family, took this shit too far e.g. Dame Dash.

I don't know about that, "Takeover" is already considered a Classic Diss Song and Song, "Jigga That Nigga" Jay went in on it but the Trackmasters were falling off at that point the hook wasn't that great, I still like the song but it's not one of the Classic joints on the album. What I'm most surprised by is how Jay and Timbaland after dropping all that heat on Vol 2 and 3 made the worst track on the album, I still can't really listen to this song, it just messed up the flow of the album:

Jay Z featuring KanYe West - Never Change

Disagree Let's be real....Nobody know Kanye West at the time and nobody know he made that beat until he released Through the Wire. If wasn't for this Bluepinrt and Kayne West would be still successful.
