HULK'S ENEMIES

MODOK

Origin

George Tarleton is a technician for the organization Advanced Idea Mechanics (AIM). Having recently created the artifact the Cosmic Cube, the AIM scientists use advanced mutagenics to alter Tarleton and create the super intelligent MODOC (acronym for Mental Organism Designed Only for Computing) to study and improve the object. MODOC, however, becomes ambitious and kills its former masters and takes control of AIM. Calling itself MODOK (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing), it comes into conflict with the hero Captain America, who is intent on rescuing SHIELD agent Sharon Carter from AIM.

MODOK becomes a recurring foe for Captain America, battling the hero on three more occasions, with the last encounter revealing the villain's origin. MODOK also battles Namor the Sub-Mariner and Doctor Doom, who is intent on claiming the Cosmic Cube.

MODOK reappears and kidnaps Betty Ross, changing her into the mutant Harpy in a bid to destroy the Hulk. The character follows the Hulk and the Harpy to a floating aerie, where the Hulk's alter ego Bruce Banner cures Ross of her condition. MODOK and an AIM team arrive in time to kill the creature the Bi-Beast, the guardian of the aerie, but not before activating a self-destruct mechanism, forcing the characters to flee.[6] MODOK also accepts the offer of the other-dimensional being the Black Lama and participates in the "War of the Supervillains", but fails to capture the prize when defeated by Iron Man.

AIM becomes dissatisfied with the lack of scientific advancement and MODOK's obsession with seeking revenge against metahumans, ousting him from power. MODOK attempts to regain control of the organization and prove his worth by unleashing a nerve agent on New York City, which is prevented by Ms. Marvel and the Vision.[8] MODOK seeks revenge against Ms. Marvel, attempting to mind control the heroine[9] and then hire assassin Deathbird to kill her;[10] Ms. Marvel overcomes these obstacles and finally defeats MODOK.

MODOK's ambitions grow and he seeks world domination, but is thwarted by Iron Man and superhero team the Champions. After an attempt to plunder the resources of the Savage Land and a battle with the savage Ka-Zar and the Hulk, the character develops a new biological agent called Virus X. MODOK's attempts to test the agent on the homeless is prevented by the Thing, Sub-Mariner, and Captain America, although the villain escapes and the Thing almost dies when exposed to the virus.

Powers and abilities

George Tarleton is subjected to a mutagenic process that grants him superhuman intelligence, including a computer-like memory, the ability to scour and retain large databanks of information very quickly and solve abstract mathematical problems nearly instantaneously. He also has the ability to calculate the mathematical probability of any given event occurring; an ability so strong that it borders on precognition. However, his creativity remains at average human level. As MODOK, the character also has psionic powers enabling him to mentally control both individuals and large groups, and generate force fields able to withstand minor nuclear explosions. Courtesy of AIM technology, MODOK wears a headband that enables him to focus his mental power into a devastating beam.

A side effect of the mutation was the growth of Tarleton's head to the point whereby his body can no longer support the weight, necessitating the use of an exoskeleton and hoverchair. The chair is equipped with a variety of weapons including missiles and lasers. Occasionally, Tarleton had the use of a giant humanoid vehicle that was proportionally sized to his head. Tarleton's organs also wear out quickly, necessitating the use of harvested clones, whose organs are used to sustain him.

As the leader of A.I.M., MODOK has advanced technology and a personal army at his disposal.

GRAVAGE HULK

gravage-Hulk.jpg

Height: 6' 6"

Weight: 900 lbs.

Hair: Green

Eyes: Green

Strength: Superhuman Class 70 tons (with potential for Superhuman Class 100)

Intelligence: While not slow the way the savage is, Gravage would often be easily distracted or might forget what he was doing. However he still posessed an intracate knowledge of how to accomplish his intentions with a crafty and informed manner.

Limitations: There were many different reasons why the Hulk would tranform back into Banner during this time. Banner tranformed into Hulk and Hulk into Banner from radiation. Rick Jones would shoot a pill down Hulk's throat to bring about the regression. There was also a bizarre time when Banner would change into the Hulk because of anxiety (which by itself isn't weird but...) and the Hulk would turn back into Banner when he became to excited.

SHE HULK
She_Hulk_23_by_Summerset.jpg

Jennifer Walters, the cousin of Bruce Banner (Hulk), is the small and somewhat shy daughter of Los Angeles County Sheriff William Morris Walters and Elaine (née Banner) Walters (who died in a car crash when Jennifer was seventeen). Operatives of Nicholas Trask, a crime boss who had crossed paths with her father, shot and seriously wounded her on a day that Bruce Banner happened to be in town for a visit. Since no other donors with her blood type were available, Banner provided his own blood for a transfusion; as they already shared the same blood type and DNA, his radioactive blood, combined with her anger transformed Jennifer into the green-skinned She-Hulk when the mobsters tried to finish her off at the hospital.

wwh2-she-hulkfight.jpg

As She-Hulk, Jennifer possessed powers similar to those of her cousin, though at a reduced level. She also possessed a less monstrous, more amazonian appearance. Initially, the transformation to her She-Hulk form was triggered (as with Bruce Banner's) by anger. Like her cousin Bruce, his counterpart, the Leader, Doc Samson, and most other persons mutated by exposure to Gamma Radiation over the years, her mutated form was originally explained as being molded by her subconscious desire to look like the ideal woman. She eventually gains control of her transformations when Michael Morbius cures her of a lethal blood disease. As a criminal defense lawyer, she defended Dr. Michael Morbius in his trial for his vampiric killings.

1328823042.jpg

A transfusion of gamma-irradiated blood from her cousin Bruce Banner (the Hulk) granted Jennifer Walters superhuman powers. In her She-Hulk form, she possesses enormous superhuman strength, that potentially makes her, by far, the physically strongest known woman in the Marvel Universe when her emotional state is sufficiently high.

Although She-Hulk's strength originally remained at a set level and did not increase, later in her history her strength has sporadically been stated to increase further from fear, or anger, similar to her cousin. In addition the character possesses superhuman speed, agility, stamina, and reflexes.

SHEHULK030.jpg

As She-Hulk, Walters is exponentially stronger than she is in her Jennifer Walters form; therefore any extra strength gained as Jennifer Walters through intense physical training will be amplified, making her She-Hulk form even stronger. After being defeated by the Champion of the Universe, She-Hulk exercised for several months in her Jennifer Walters form, resulting in a significant gain in strength and muscular mass in her She-Hulk form and allowing her to soundly defeat the Champion in a rematch. At this time she was able to effortlessly sustain the Thing's maximum weight with a single arm, while her strength was greatly restrained by a "Jupiter suit," and she was shown as considerably stronger than Hercules.[ Her calm strength level has since receded, but remains somewhat higher than, for example, Wonder Man.

350px-Ms_Marvel_She-Hulk_2.jpg

She-Hulk's body is superhumanly durable and nearly impervious to force, pain, and disease: her skin can withstand extremes of temperature, as well as tremendous stresses and impacts without puncture wounds or lacerations. Her enhanced physiology renders her immune to all terrestrial diseases. She-Hulk also possesses a healing factor, which enabled her to completely recover, within minutes, from a skewering by the Wendigo.

Unlike Hulk, Jennifer's personality and intelligence are less affected when she transforms into She-Hulk, although she becomes more self-confident and assertive. For a long time, She-Hulk could not revert to her original human form.

She_Hulk.jpg

Due to training from the alien Ovoids, She-Hulk is able to swap powers and physiques with other women of the same species, but retains her green skin pigmentation, and only used it once.

Due to the Hulk's wish, Jennifer can now switch between her human and hulk forms at will.

4667008a2b8a85a42ff3ea0fed23972e.jpg

Skills

She-Hulk is a formidable hand-to-hand combatant, having been trained by Captain America and Gamora. Even in her Jennifer Walters form, she possesses sufficient skill in the martial arts to dispatch several would-be muggers much larger than she is. She once displayed sufficient knowledge of acupressure to render the Abomination insensate by striking several nerve clusters after first using psychology to distract him.

The character is also a skilled and experienced attorney who attended UCLA School of Law, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif, a national merit society for top legal scholars. She-Hulk had performed legal work as a member of the Magistrati, who had the power to compel her to adjudicate cases anywhere in creation. She ceased to operate in this function after successfully adjudicating the merits of her own Universe to continue existing (opposed by the Ultimate Marvel Universe) before the Living Tribunal.

LOVE THE HULK, MY FAV COMIC BOOK CHARACTER....

I WAS READING YEARS AGO ON WHY THEY CHANGED HIS NAME.... CAUSE U KNOW HE WAS NAMED BRUCE AND SOMETIMES DAVID

There are a couple of versions of this story. The first was that the name "Bruce" was considered stereotypically gay in the 1970s. The second was that producer Ken Johnson hated illiterating names like "Bruce Banner", "Clark Kent", "Matt Murdock" and "Peter Parker."

@MRDRO Banner have many name changes i remember somewhere i was reading that Banner's names is Robert David Bruce Banner,lol... thanks for the breakdown of the name change i didnt even know that was the reason for the name changes

DOC SAMSON

Leonard Samson was born Leonard Skivorski, Jr. in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His father, Dr. Leonard "Leo" Skivorski, was a popular psychiatrist in his hometown who specialized in treating young women, often conducting extramarital affairs with them.[volume & issue needed] Mrs. Skivorski had nicknamed her husband "Samson" after his long hair. Leonard Jr. initially expressed disinterest in becoming a psychiatrist, perhaps because he resented his father's philandering. Despite this, he became a college professor and psychiatrist. After Robert Bruce Banner was temporarily cured of being the Hulk by siphoning off the gamma radiation that caused his transformations, Samson, who had been working with Banner/Hulk in his job as a psychiatrist, exposed himself to some of the siphoned radiation, granting him a superhumanly strong and muscular physique and causing his hair to turn green and to grow long, reminiscent of his biblical namesake. Initially, Samson's physical strength depends upon the length of his hair, though his gamma mutation eventually stabilized, making the length of his hair no longer a factor.

82985-2498-doc-samson_super.jpg

Unlike the Hulk, Doc Samson originally did not suffer from multiple personality disorder, and retained his genius intellect, however in recent years he has developed a split personality: his calm conscious personality "Leonard" and his rude personality "Samson".[volume & issue needed] He has conducted research on gamma beings like himself and has come to the conclusion that gamma mutation is largely determined by the subject's deepest sense of self. Hence, his form is based on a subconscious desire for superhuman power like the Biblical Samson.

While attacking the Thunderbolts, the telepath Mirage noted that Doc Samson, who was present in Thunderbolts Mountain, had some fascinating thoughts. In his mind she saw that, while his mental reactions to Norman Osborn and Moonstone were Hulk-like, he was still able to control himself from physically acting on those impulses.

10dgm68.jpg

140816-160500-doc-samson_large.jpg

Doc Samson possesses superhuman physical abilities as a result of exposure to high levels of gamma radiation. His exposure is considerably less than that of the Hulk or the Abomination. The gamma radiation mutated Samson's physique by adding considerable muscle and bone mass to his body, granting him high levels of superhuman strength. The exposure also turned his hair a bright shade of green. Initially, his strength was dependent on the length of his hair and the longer it was, the more powerful he became, although his mutation has since stabilized, making his hair length irrelevant. Samson's strength is equal to that of the Gray Hulk, AKA Joe Fixit, while the latter is in a calm emotional state. Unlike the Hulk, however, Samson's strength doesn't increase due to adrenaline surges while angry. As a result, Samson is ultimately far less powerful than the Hulk. Samson is able to leap great distances vertically and horizontally, though not nearly as far as the Hulk or Abomination.

1976698-doc_samson.jpg

Aside from granting him more muscle mass, Samson's bodily tissues are fortified and are considerably harder than those of an ordinary human, granting him a high level of resistance to physical injury. Samson can withstand falls from great heights, extremes of temperature, high-caliber bullets, and tremendous impact forces like being repeatedly struck by the Hulk without sustaining injury. Due to his highly advanced musculature, his muscles produce considerably less fatigue toxins during physical activity than the musculature of a normal human, granting him superhuman stamina. He has demonstrated sufficient stamina to battle a mindless incarnation of the Hulk for more than six hours.

The discovery of a new persona within Leonard's psyche, which he calls "Samson," reveals that Doc Samson is capable of much higher powers than previously observed.

Like others who have gamma induced powers, Doc Samson is immune to terrestrial diseases. Unlike the Hulk, Abomination, or even She-Hulk, Samson hasn't demonstrated any accelerated healing powers.

Samson is said to be one of the most renowned psychiatrists on Earth.[55] He is often called on to counsel various superhumans, such as the members of X-Factor. He has a M.D. in psychiatry, and is a skilled theoretical technician and inventor of various medical devices.[citation needed] His extensive study of the mind also permits him a significant degree of resistance to telepathy and telepathic attacks.

Samson is a highly skilled hand-to-hand combatant, which, coupled with his physical attributes, has allowed him to engage the Hulk for extended periods of time, and briefly held his own against the combined forces of Iron Man, Wonder Man, Sub-Mariner, and Hercules, after they had first fought the mindless Hulk.[21] He sometimes uses psychology as a tool to get through a more powerful opponent's guard, such as an Infinity Gem-empowered Titania.

DEVIL HULK

The Devil Hulk is the malevolent, amoral, personality of Bruce Banner, personifying all of Banner's resentment at the way he is treated by the world. He is also one of the Hulk's enemies, constantly threatening to escape confinement in Banner's mind and destroy the world in revenge. Banner first encountered this Hulk after the Guilt Hulk resurfaced, on a mental journey to stop the creature. Chained and bound deep within Banner's mind, the Devil Hulk offered his assistance against the Beast, as the only personality who could ignore Banner's guilt, in return for his release. Banner refused, leaving the Devil Hulk still chained, but he escaped into Banner's psyche a short while afterwards when the machinations of General Ryker shattered the barriers keeping him imprisoned. Fortunately, he was finally contained in Banner's subconscious by Banner, the Savage Hulk and Joe Fixit. It is assumed that while calm, the Devil Hulk can lift well over 100 tons.

Devil-hulk.png

The Devil Hulk is a much more darker and sinister than the average Hulk incarnation. As he is an obscure image of the Hulk's true, destructive power, setting him free would possibly result in everything Bruce Banner knew and loved being annihilated or killed. His innitial powers consist of everything the Hulk is capable of, which makes him a mirrored match in a fight against the Hulk, possessing incredible strength, stamina, agility and healing factor. But what makes this dark entity different to the Hulk is:

Intelligence - Not only is the Devil Hulk much bigger and even possibly stronger than Savage Hulk, but he also possesses the intelligence of Bruce Banner or even Merged Hulk. This means that the Devil Hulk is not only brawn, but brains too!

Cunning - The saying "a deal with the devil" pretty much rounds off the Devil Hulk. When Bruce finds him chained up, Devil Hulk promises Bruce that if he frees him, he shall assist the other hulks and fight the Guilt Hulk for him. However, Bruce knows that if he does let him free, he shall only cause even more havok, and so leaves the Devil Hulk imprisoned in the Ark.

Terrakenisis - He also has the ability to manipulate terrain and rock formations. In The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, one of Devil Hulk's attacks include raising large, stalagmite-like rock structures in an attempt to attack the Hulk and send him flying into the air. During the battle, he sometimes crawl into a huge "waist-deep" pit, that, presumably, he must have dug himself, possibly to escape Bruce's mind. This could suggest that he can also dig or burrow, which also probably suggests why he has rather large claws to hack at tough rock formations.

Psych - This is where the Devil Hulk's evil, frightening looks, deep voice come and cunning come into place. He has the ability to frighten opponents or intimidate them psychologically (through the mind). He can make them panic or loose concentration, which gives him the chance to lash out an attack when the opponent is put off guard. The Hulk (or Bruce Banner for that matter), being lonely, misunderstood, abused in childhood and hated, makes an excellent target to break down, mentally.

devilhulk1.gif

The Devil had never been seen until recently. Bruce Banner finally began to look around inside his mind, perhaps this was the first time he was really able since Dr. Angela Libscombe's machine finally took him inside his real mind, when he noticed a cave off to the side. There he saw countless Hulks all encased inside ice. All save one who seems to have melted his way out of his ice. He was still manacled to the wall thankfully when he introduced himself to Bruce as The Devil. "The Devil you know over the devil you don't.

When General Ryker cracks the secret of why any Hulk comes out depending on the circumstance he manages to melt the ice in the cave. With the ice melted all the inhabitants are free to roam. Devil Hulk confronts Banner on his way out.

After the situation in the cave most of the Hulks realize that they don't want to get out, but the Devil Hulk seems to still be active.

The Devil seems to believe he represents Banner's own self loathing. If that's the case you can bet that this Hulk will be one of the strongest yet.

Appearances: Incredible Hulk #13, 19, 27, 28, 30[/

RICK JONES

Rick Jones was born in Scarsdale, Arizona. He lost his parents at a young age and grew up at an orphanage. He gains notoriety when he accepts a dare to drive out to a bomb testing ground in New Mexico. As luck would have it, the gamma bomb designed by Dr. Robert Bruce Banner is being tested. Banner pushes Rick into a protective trench, saving his life but absorbing the gamma rays that first transform him into the Hulk. Rick then becomes the sole confidant of the Hulk's true identity.

11afuyg.jpg

Rick's guilt over causing the incident (and lack of any other place to go) leads him to stay close to Dr. Banner and his alter ego, spending some time as the Hulk's sidekick. For a time, he even gains mental control over the Hulk. Eventually the dangerous unpredictability of the Hulk forces Rick to keep his distance

A-Bomb

20091221052248!Red-hulk-vs-a-bomb-wallpaper-36-l.jpg

In the aftermath of "World War Hulk", a new Red Hulk emerged, brutally beating and then shooting the Abomination to death.[volume & issue needed] After this occurred, Jones escaped from a secret base in Alaska that had been destroyed in a "Hulk-like" manner.[volume & issue needed] Following this, Red Hulk confronts Jones at Gamma Base, where Bruce Banner is being held. In defense, Jones inexplicably transforms into a creature resembling the Abomination, calling himself A-Bomb. During the fight, the base security measures activate, and giant android harpies (with the face of Betty Ross) attack the two, and attempt to remove them from the base. A-Bomb manages to disable one mid-flight, and they both crash to earth, the robot exploding as it does.

A-Bomb joined with several heroes including the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, She-Hulk and the Hulk to help stop an impending earthquake in San Francisco, which was caused by Red Hulk. After the Red Hulk was defeated, A-Bomb reverted back to Rick. He attempted to reveal who Red Hulk really was, but was shot and dragged away by Doc Samson. In Incredible Hulk #600 it is revealed the reason Doc Samson shot Rick Jones is because he now has multiple personality syndrome. It's also revealed that MODOK was involved in Rick's new condition. After Red Hulk drained the gamma energy from Hulk, A-Bomb had enough intelligence to get Bruce Banner to safety In Incredible Hulk #604, A-Bomb was shown to be fully healed, participating along with Korg as Skaar's sparring partner to prepare him for the time when the Hulk will return. In the same issue, Rick was reunited with Marlo, who was transformed by the Leader into Harpy, whom Bruce mistakes for Betty Ross.

It was eventually revealed that Rick was transformed into A-Bomb by the Intelligencia under command of the Leader and MODOK. Using the Abomination's blood they changed him to become their weapon, but soon learned that he could not be controlled as easily as they planned. Instead, they gave him one simple command with a certain trigger—kill Bruce Banner. Suspecting this, Bruce was able to trigger Rick at an appropriate time and talk him down, making it so Rick would not be triggered in the future when his plans were to be carried out.[volume & issue needed] During the Chaos War storyline, A-Bomb and Korg assist the Hulks in fighting Abomination, a Zom-possessed Doctor Strange, and the forces of Amatsu-Mikaboshi. It is later revealed that Rick is able to revert between A-Bomb and his normal form.

christmas-2010-006.jpg

Powers and abilities

Rick Jones is an athletic man that previously had no superhuman powers. He has received training in combat gymnastics by Captain America. He is also a skilled self-taught folk and rock n' roll singer and guitarist.

At one point Jones wielded the Destiny Force, a powerful ability utilized during the Kree-Skrull War storyline. With this power, through focus, he was able to perform amazing feats such as pull various members of the superhero team Avengers from the past, present and future, although this assault is generally random unless another controlling influence, such as Libra, is assisting him.

Jones's latent psionic potential was once unleashed by the Kree Supreme Intelligence, but he cannot utilize it at will. He was also for a time able to shift spacial/temporal positions with Mar-Vell, and later Genis-Vell.

After being held captive and put under extreme experiments by the Intelligencia, Rick Jones has gained the ability to turn into a creature resembling the Abomination, granting him vast superhuman strength and durability (even the Red Hulk only caused superficial damage), but stunting his speech patterns in a similar manner to the classic Hulk persona.

His scales can change color to blend in with his surroundings. Following experimentation on him by MODOK, Rick's human persona became dominant, but at the price of trapping him in A-Bomb form Although Bruce speculates in a later storyline that this is actually a deliberate, albeit subconscious, action on Rick's part, Rick wanting to prevent anything else being hurt while saving him like Bruce was when he was originally transformed into the Hulk by ensuring that he is always ready if he is attacked. Due to the Hulk's wish, Rick can now transform at will with his mind in control.
